Welcome to AT.

I am really not sure about the brands that are available in India, but Razer, Microsoft, and Logitech are proven brands that are good for gaming. My current mouse is a razer deathadder which I wholly recommend If you have big palms.

You best option would be Logitech MX518, its pretty old but aged pretty when compared to other mouses and falls in your budget.

These are your other options, I can find.
Razer Deathadder
Sidewinder X5

Prices variance is extremely high and heavily based on the city you located in.

The MX518 is a nice mouse in spite of its age. I'd go for that.

I'd go with the MX518 simply because of the greater prevalence of good user and professional reviews. I don't know of anyone who's used the other mouse, and there aren't many reviews on it.

I bought my MX518 when I used to compete on CS:S a few years back. Never failed me then and still hasn't failed me now. I think there's a deal going around on them for around $25. Not gonna find anything better, IMO.

I've tried MX518, G5 v2, and G500. Any one of these are great! Go with the tried and true MX518 since it may be the cheapest.

Isn't the MX 518 identical to the Logitech G5 ?

No, they are totally different. G5 is more recent when compared to MX 518. The sensors(laser vs optical) and the dpi(2000 vs 1800) are different too. The numbers say G5 is more advanced but the community usually prefers MX 518 over G5.

You can never go wrong with either of those.

you mean that 1600 dpi is enough for games like cs?

1600dpi is dots per inch, basically taking an inch and breaking it into 1600ths, there is no way the human operating the mouse could even move the mouse that small of a distance, hence 1600 dpi is overkill, in ANY game. So yes, it is enough, more than enough.

its 2000 vs 1600, not 1800, but still, 1600 is the ultimate, its almost like 60fps, anything higher than that your eye cant tell the difference anyway. The only real advantage of it is if you you game with SUPER high sensitivity and you cant attain the sensitivity you want through just windows slider controls.

Games in general (any FPS) doesnt NEED a gaming grade mouse. ANY mouse WILL work, but the more hardcore you get into the games, the more of an advantage you want, hence the desire of many gamers to use precision gaming mouses. They provide a tiny bit of an edge to those not so fortunate as having one.

518 works fine with win 7, the mouse was around when dirt was new, it should. Dont get a sidewinder, get the 518.

There are actually 2 versions of that mouse. A 1600 dpi and an updated 1800 dpi version. The latter model is the one available in etailers now. Anyway, you are right regarding the DPI you wont notice any difference as you go higher.
