Gaming mouse good for FPS? Not too expensive

Just started getting back into PC FPS, I dont like using my cheap 3 button mouse that I had, thinking about getting something a little more substantial.

I was checking out this one

Yeah that one is really nice. And judging by the number of 5 star reviews seems to be the standard bearer. Might plop down the extra dough for it.

The standard options are the Logitech G400 (MX518 replacement) and Razer Deathadder.

Then, there's the G9X and G500s (s is just the updated version that just came out), as common ones, too.

Love my two G9X mice, but I don't game with them anymore. If it isn't wireless, I won't even look at a 'gaming' mouse anymore.

G700 vs Mamba = G700 winner imo.

I assume you probably noticed this already, but you can buy a Modern Warfare 3 Edition G9X for significantly cheaper than the normal one.

It's similar to a Mad Catz Cyborg RAT 7 mouse that I used to own, and which I do NOT recommend, because the RAT 7 is terrible.

But it looks really cool and is super accurate.

It's also worthwhile to mention that the G500 is the palm style mouse where the G9X is a claw style mouse. It's important to get a mouse that you're comfortable using. In the past, I've used the G700, G500, G400, G5 and a few other mice, and they're all palm style mice.

All I am going to say is that which mouse looks cooler isn't a criteria I would use for selecting a mouse. I would choose one designed for how I hold my mouse (finger grip, palm or claw) and one with a flawless of near flawless sensor. Those in my mind are the key initial elements of choosing a mouse, I don't think 5 star reviews on a random site that contain zero information about the actual performance of the mouse have any real baring on the actual quality of the mouse.

The fact is today its very hard to get decent reviews of mice, which is why everyone thinks they are all about the same and you should choose them on the basis of additional features. If you don't care about actually being any good at gaming then that is a good strategy, but you wont get a good mouse that way.

The G9 is one of the best claw grip mice I ever used. I think you'll be happy with it.

I still use my old G3, and it's my favorite mouse. I've never found one as good as it since. I'm not a big fan of these new odd shaped mice (plus I'm left handed which eliminates 90% of them). Just give me a simple 5 button mouse with decent DPS and I'm happy.

Unfortunately they discontinued the G3.

The negative acceleration is only an issue if you are low sensitivity (which you should be) and suitably fast to get the mouse to fail speed, but the skipping means its far from an flawless sensor. It at least doesn't angle snap, jitter or have in built acceleration but its far from a flawless sensor.

Its only $38 at amazon, the logo would probably come right off with a little steel wool or nail polish remover.

The G9 has long been discontinued. The G9x has no jitter at reasonable DPI levels (TMK, no laser mouse out there can actually do 3000DPI or higher w/o issues), and angle snapping is optional, but it has constant positive acceleration.

I'm not sure about the new laser sensors, but right now, Logitech's G3, G300 (1250DPI flawless), and G400 (1800DPI flawless) are their only good choices for no acceleration.

The G9 has issues. That's why the G9x was released. It fixed those issues.
