I'm currently using the Razer Barracuda HP-1, they're pretty kickass

I currently use this Zalman microphone. It's pretty good quality and allows me to use whatever pair of headphones I like (I find most all of the gaming headsets tend to lack in sound quality). The only other gaming headsets I might consider would be the surround ones (such as the recommended Razer) - I guess having some physical positioning surround sound technology is enough pro to offset any quality you could only get with some audiophile headphones.
