PLEASE when POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
The above information IS NEEDED, in order that WE can help YOU make wise judgments on YOUR purchases

There's no information in this post that couldn't be had simply by browsing the other threads or reading build guides like ones on ArsTechnica and other sites, but here goes:
The average person in building a new computer in General Hardware is probably spending around 1100, and getting parts that look something like this:
CPU: Intel E8400
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3L or Abit IP35-E
RAM: 2x2GB DDR2-800
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GT, 9600GT or 8800GTS 512MB
Hard Drive: 500GB, 640GB or 750GB hard drive
DVD Burner: Samsung 203 or similar
Case: Centurion 5, RC-690, Solo or P182
PSU: Corsair 520HX, Corsair 450VX or similar
Are you overclocking to save money, or to push things as far as you possibly can?
Pick up a mid-range Dell XPS 630 , you'll be fine.Originally posted by: EvolutionPro
Case: Mid or Full Tower? What case material should I pick?
Hard Drive: Should I buy Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Hard Drive?
Keyboard: What keyboard should I buy?
Motherboard: Intel or NVIDIA?
Mouse: What mouse should I buy?
Operating System: XP or Vista? 32-bit or 64-bit?
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / Q6700 / Q9300 / Q9450 (after price drop)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA (SLI) or ATI Radeon (Crossfire)?
Can we quote you on that a few weeks from now when you post your "Please Help Me" thread?Originally posted by: EvolutionPro

I'm going to invest in my 401k and ROTH IRA for retirement.
I also plan on taking my new pup to the vet thursday for his first check-up.
