Gaming Chair

just make sure you size it right.

Many of these gaming chairs come in specific sizes. DxRacer chairs have a ton of different sizes.

I got one and it was uncomfortable so I couldn't use it and I've used a wooden dining chair for years I suspect helped caused lower back issues.

Still need a comfortable chair - need to get to costco.

I've tried a LOT of chairs over the years and this one fits a good spot between price, comfort, back support, and longevity. Had this one since Feb 2015 and still going strong. I'm also a larger guy, 6'4, 260, and it handles me well. Had a friend get one as well, he's easily over 300 and has served him as well.

A chair isn't something I would cheap out on either. Above this price range I'd probably jump up a bit and start looking at HermanMiller stuff.

Also, I've never found a comfortable, well built "gaming" chair, they all seem to use that word for marketing only like gaming headphone compared to a pair of sennheisers.

i've got a dxracer, i love the back/neck support it provides but i really wish i had purchased a wider version (i'm 6'1 180)

+1 for dxracer... got one in black/orange since 2013... superb quality but honestly it's just okay in the comfort department.

I keep buying office chairs,($150-350) they are all quite comfortable to start but they must use cheap foam.. the seat is always shot in a year or two max for me. I am part of the problem no doubt 220Lbs but I have had the same office chair for 15 years and foam is fine in that (seat) and it get much ore use then my home Game chair. I too wonder what a good chair is, I have sat in a few of the "gamer " chairs and they are I'm sure fine for the 120-180lb crew.. but they wont cut it, the foam is the same stuff all the office chairs use.. it wont last.

Which is why you don't get one with foam. Get a HM Aeron. Seriously, it will likely outlast you.

except aerons start at like $600 and don't really match a racing wheel setup.

DXR was $360 and isn't made out of recycled plastic bottles
Very true on the racing wheel setup though a little trip to a self pull car yard works wonders for a racing wheel setup. You can find refurb or office closure aerons starting around $300.

You can get them refurbed on the cheap, and they'll still last forever. Even so, I'd rather spend the extra scratch and save my back.

Get an Aeron chair, don't buy gimmicky 'gaming' chairs.

Seriously, I can sit in an Aeron chair for 9 hours at work, come home, and sit in one for another 5 gaming, without even noticing.
Another BIG vote for spending a bit more and getting a Aeron. In the long run, you will save money on it, as it is built like a tank, and your back will thank you 100 times over as well.

I bought a Aeron at least 12-14 years ago now. And it still is as comfortable as the day I received it without any sense that it has mechanical or physical problems. The foam padding used in something like the one you posted will be lucky to last 3-4 years, at which time you will be spending another $200 on a new chair, add that up over the coarse of 10-12 and the Aeron is much cheaper.

Sure it costs more up front, but the Aeron is built to last, unlike anything in the $200 range which is built to last just long enough to be past its 1 year warranty...

I honestly don't know why people support the gimmicky gaming chairs when office chairs are designed for ergonomic support for back, neck, and arms. If all you want is something to look neat in your room, save yourself the future back pain and just throw a SUMO in the corner for when friends visit. For practical purposes, spent a bit extra and get a nice office chair. Aeron's are absolutely amazing and they've allowed me to game for 6+ hour sessions with no pain at all. I've sat in some of those "gaming chairs" and after half an hour my lower back and ass were killing me.

I feel the same way about SteelCase. I spend most of my day at my desk and my back thanks for me for spending the extra up front and getting a Leap. OP, I'd definitely take a look at a quality office chair.

Ugh. Yesterday I bought an Aeron chair and it's just not comfortable.

I need to sit forward to game, and the chair is not comfortable for that - only for sitting back.

What a mess.

The Aerons are so universally loved I didn't even worry this was a possible problem.

I have a Steelcase Gesture chair and it is great! I tried the Aeron but sent it back, for free at that. I did not like it.

The best part about Steelcase is they take care of their customers! I had a issue with the seat coming apart at the bottom a while ago. They were going to send someone out to fix it but had no one in my area. So instead they sent me a brand new chair free of charge. Of course I had to send back the old chair where the seat was coming apart. To send it back was free of charge as well.

That's nice. I wonder where to try one - not that I should think of another chair after what I spent on the Aeron. I'd been looking at some nice comfy chairs at Costco and probably should have just got that (for less).

I'm surprised, how far forward are you sitting? My current chair is just... vertical, and that's not even as far forward as it can go. Further forward and I'm having to actually press upward to lean into it, what chair provides support when you're past the 90 degree mark?

I was able to try the Aeron for a few days with demo store unit at my house. They let me take home. I had to bring it back of course.

Wow I am really surprised you had that kind of issue. While I usually lean back when gaming in my Aeron, (I put my legs up, have my keyboard on my lap, and the mouse on the desk next to me), I do sit up straight in it while doing other things (like playing guitar or bass while recording on the computer).

Did you get the fully adjustable version or just the base model (mine is the fully adjustable (i.e. tilt limiter+seat angle adjustment, fully adjustable arms, adjustable posture fit back support), which could be part of the reason)?
