1. What YOUR PC will be used for. Trying to build a gaming desktop rig to dedicate to my 42" Sony Bravia "monitor". Looking for good graphics quality on new games (ie Civ 5)
2. What YOUR budget is. Price is not that important. Looking to keep it around $1500 or so, but not set in stone.
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. USA
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. Nope
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts. Nope again
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads. Yes
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds. Plan on Overclocking it.
8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with. 1080p (1920 x 1080)
9. WHEN do you plan to build it? In the next couple of months
_______________________________________________________________
Please critique my build (dont worry i can take it) because i have not built a computer in a number of years, and could easily be overlooking something obvious. I fear i might be over-designing for my needs, but am not sure if that is true. Im really trying to build a future looking (not aesthetics, but up-gradability), gaming computer that can handle the graphics required for a 42 LCD TV. And if you have any better suggestions, please leave them too.
Here is what i thought would work for me.
mobo: ASUS p8p67 Pro $189.99
CPU; Intel core i7 2660k 3.4 Gz Quadcore $329.99
GPU: Radeon HD 6950 2GB $299.99
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)HD $89.99
BD/DV LG Black Blu-Ray Disk combo $59.99
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 $159.99
Cooling System: would like to do liquid cooling, but not sure (~$250)
Power Supply : EnerMax modu82+ $144.99
Total:~$1500
Again, thanks for the anticipated help.
