Gaming boost from Win2K --> WinXP?

I only play Tribes2 on my computer. Is there a boost from using WinXP? A couple of threads on here have made it sound that way, but I just want to double-check. Is there real-world boost associated with it, or is it just a few hundred points on 3DMark2001? If I can get another 10FPS I'll switch in a heartbeat!

Windows Xp does optimize video performance.... however real difference will only be noticed on a high end vid card. so anything more than a year or so old wont get too much of a boost.
