I am still in need of help. Considering GTX 470 by zotac for $360 shipped or a 5870 for $400. Not sure I want to pay the extra $40. I only have a single gpu solution. 5850 is $300, but I am wondering if it can keep up all settings maxed. I don't plan on OCing it.
Just get a 5850 now and in a few months you can get a second 5850 for crossfire when more FERMI cards are released as well as official news on Southern Isles.
Seriously Nvidia screwed us all price wise this round.
And you're surprised? . 5850 or bust
Not a bad choice if you can get it at MSRP. The noise/heat is mostly a GTX 480 problem, 470s are actually not that bad but if you compare it with the HD 5000 series it looks pretty shitty.Im contemplating the 470. The only thing holding me back is the heat.
Surprisingly the retails samples usually run around 80c load @ around 50% fan speed which is not that hot if you compare them to previous generation cards, that would pass 90c easily.Im contemplating the 470. The only thing holding me back is the heat.
