well i finally got the chip and i am still looking for the ceiling on the darn thing... here's what i got so far -

i am now at 2.338 w/default (well 1.62 according to mbm5/sandra) voltages - this is the highest as i have tried so far. not once has it failed to boot! not bad at all for $93. keep in mind tho i have not stressed the speeds at all. *edit to add... i'm gonna see how long prime95 will run here in a few*

Guys, I would read their Reseller Ratings before you order from them, I was gonna get one of those Radeon 9700s but after I read the comments, I decided just to go to mwave. Just my 2 cents.

I've ordered from Gameve many times and gotten my product fast and in great condition. I rank them up there with Newegg in terms of service/price ratio.

I picked up two NF7-S mobo's from them. Great service, fast shipping, and they work perfectly :)

skarydrunkguy, please put down the can :(

When he's trying to help us decide whether or not this is a worthy purchase BASED (almost entirely) on its overclocking prowess, you NEED to know what other hardware/settings was used. If anything, I wanted to know a little more (i.e. exact BIOS settings for the Overclocking/Expert Features page)

Also, what cooling is being used I'm getting REAAAAALLLY tempted to buy one, as I live about an hour away, but I don't want to drive down if I can't crank out 2.3GHz on air. (SLK-800 with a wide variety of 80mm fans here, but I refuse to strap on the 52.5dBa Delta and go deaf for achieving that speed)

EDIT: Based on the software-provided Fan RPM readout I see you posted it looks like you're using the same fan I don't want to have to resort to using (i.e. Delta monster 80mm, 5700RPM, 80CFM fan) LOL.

Peace

This is why I shop at Newegg instead of GameVE:

GameVE's policy:

"All REFUNDS, including DEFECTIVE and DOA Merchandise, WILL BE charged a 15% Restocking Fee"

"There will be an additional $6 deduction after restocking fee for items with "FREE SHIPPING" promotion."

tbrooks40- that's a hell of an overclock at default voltage! Nice job. You lucky #@%*. Now I want one too. I wonder how fast that chip is going to go?

Uh, NewEgg also charges a 15% restocking fee.... The extra $6 charge is kinda lame though.

NewEgg.com
There is a restocking fee of 15% on all returns for refund, unless waived by our Customer Support Agent. Newegg is not responsible for manufacturer defects. We are not manufacturers. We are willing to replace a defective item. If a refund is requested instead of a replacement we will charge a 15% restocking fee. Why? Claiming "defective" is the easy way out of a restocking fee just because you don't want the item. If it's defective we will replace it (rma type repair).

I had to pay a restocking fee for a DOA harddrive because I wanted a refund

Although they state this, when you receive a DOA, CALL, do not use the online RMA form. I have returned 5 products in the last few months to Newegg with zero restocking fee.

I've had no such luck, and I have called them about it. Anyways, this topic isn't the purpose of this thread. So, I'll leave it at that.

what's up m8... don't mind the fan - i just had it connected just incase you know. whenever i am oc'ing i always pull out the tornado ;)... but i didn't need it tho. i couldn't get any higher than 2.35ghz at default voltage so i upped the vcore to 1.71v, upped the FSB to 200, set the multiplier at 12x, and started stress testing the cpu. i was turned down the fan to about 4000rpms and she ran there for hours without a hitch! all she wanted was more voltage - after 500mhz+ i figured she'd done a decent job and gave her another 1.1v and she's been happily getting 'tortured' by Prime95 for hours and this is with an sk.7 - get you an slk800 or 900 and there's no telling what kind of fan you can run ;) i heard the Bartons require a little burn-in time and it really gets in the OCing mood so i haven't tried anymore than 1.71 volts or any higher than 2400mhz but i plan to start up again tonight.

yeah i knew something was up with that chip when gameve had the stepping quoted and guaranteed - i guess it could have been a bust but that's all history now :)

oh yeah, i have the pc3200 running at 2-2-2-5 in the bios, vcore is 1.71, mem. voltage is 2.8 or 2.7v, and the chipset voltage is 1.6. hopefully this chip will go beyond 2500mhz as the other one i have does 2500mhz but its not stable at those speeds. if someone could tell me how to post desktop pictures i will post the wcpuid and sandra pics which are a bit more believeable. i know its something like alt+printsceen but this isn't working for me for some reason.

Sounded like a good chip to try so I went ahead and ordered one. The last one I had would not take any voltage over 1.8 VCore and would just reboot no matter the setting.
The Buffalo ram is not bad. Have the same ram at 210 FSB on the same MB with the timings at 3-2-2-2 and stable. For the price this has been very good ram. Hope this CPU will give me an easy 12X200.

I'm pretty sure he meant instead of:
