I still think a significant percentage of people are buying them to sell for a profit. Everyday I see on craigslist 10-20 new postings for Wii's at 350$ and they're always unique postings. If you email them a few days later, they're always sold.

My son and I got one at the Best Buy in Fairfield, CA. We hit the store just before 9 a.m. and were issued voucher 4 of 12. The lady behind us said she had been to the Vacaville, CA Best Buy around 8 a.m. and 15 people were already lined up. All the local Best Buys reportedly had 12 units each.

My wife, 3 kids and I spent the rest of the day having a blast with Wii Sports and Wii Play. It was money and time well spent. Thanks OP.

Finally got my Wii today. I was 10 of 44 at my Best Buy. The Circuit City across the street had a line as well, but when an employee opened their door to let another employee in, a customer asked them if they had Wiis. They (the employees) looked at them and laughed. After that happened, all of those people in front of CC went to BB and joined that line.

I was waiting for the base exchange to get it, but they never do get any. They didn't even have any today.

kinda feel bad for em...

Look at it this way. You come in to work early on a Sunday, potentially hungover, and the first question asked by a customer is 'Do you have a Wii?'. Yah I might laugh too. Blame Nintendo for the name. :p

I did that. I was in a Sam's in Newport News, VA and saw they had a few. I snagged 2. They had 15. 2 minutes later someone bought the last 13 to sell online.

So this is an honest question. How is the wii for single player? I've only played it with friends so far.

Nintendo has still problems with production of Wii, so hopefully by next Christmas I could buy one.

I'm not so sure it's a problem with production, I mean they have sold over 6 million in 6 months so a million a month is not bad for a "next gen" console. It's the demand that is still out there. We ship 3-4 trailers a day (54' trailers that is) mostly of Wii's from Nintendo's North Bend, WA facility which is the distribution for the entire US. And that is only for certain stores, places like EB games and many other stores get their Nintendo hardware from other distributers who ship a ton with us and other providers.

The systems are getting out there, they just keep getting bought up.

My brother, who keeps pretty good tabs on all things nintendo, says that they're going to ramp up production in May. I'll see if I can get a link.

FYI: Recent News on Nintendo
In February, U.S. retailers sold 335,000 Wiis, compared with 228,000 Xbox 360s and 127,000 PlayStation 3s, according to NPD Group Inc., a sales-tracking firm in Port Washington, N.Y.

Nintendo Co. said results for the fiscal year ended March will top previous expectations, thanks to strong sales of its hand-held Nintendo DS system and strength in the dollar and the euro.

Nintendo, which is competing with Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp. in the home videogame console market, said it now forecasts group sales of about 966 billion yen ($8.14 billion), compared with 900 billion yen it projected just three months ago on brisk sales of its Nintendo DS hand-held game software and consoles on a global basis.

"Our sales didn't lose momentum even after a big Christmas shopping season" with DS software lineups particularly attracting customers, said a Nintendo spokesman. The company will report detailed earnings figures April 26.

Here's a little tip for you: when you are trying to "own" something or somebody, try to spell correctly. Otherwise, you just look like an idiot.

Sounds right...I spoke with a Walmart rep in the electronics today. She reported that Nintendo is expected to have the shelves full of Wii's in May....maybe I can get one without waiting in line for 2 hours...

Jesus Christ. I went to Toys R' Us today and got another "Wii's are sold out" response. I've been asking since last year and it's almost May already. Good job Nintendo, you bitches.

You may have a chance to find a Wii at EB and Gamestop this upcoming Sunday....

And here's a smashing deal for a HD component cable for the Wii for only $8.99 - just received mine today and they help perk up the graphic output from the Wii....

Just remove the space from bewteen www.m e for the link...

I was in a Hollywood Games shop a day or two ago and the guy there said that they had 12 of them. I already had one so didn't bother actually verifying that statement. There was hardly anyone in the store, and none of them in the Game side. So not a lot of buying pressure there.

Hollywood Games is the name that Hollywood Video is giving to some of their GameCrazy stores. (They bought out GameCrazy and have started putting GameCrazy stores into their video rental locations.)
