Stardock's Brad Wardell Talks About Selling Impulse to Gamestop
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/stardocks-brad-wardell-talks-about-selling-impulse-to-gamestop/

"Last year, because Impulse's revenue was growing so much, more resources were being dedicated to it," said Stardock founder Brad Wardell. "We were either going to have to become a retailer, or we were going to have to find some other way." Wardell decided to find another company to run Impulse as an online retailer.

Though Impulse will be completely separate from Stardock when the deal goes through, Wardell said Stardock's games will stay exclusive on Impulse "for the foreseeable future."

ha! glad the only thing i ever bought off that awful, clunky service was Sins. seriously though, this is terrible news.

I REALLY REALLY thought this was a day early April Fools joke at first.

I have no against Impulse and they have been stepping up their deals a lot more, their weekend deals this weekend are really good.

Guess it's a good thing I only have SoaSE and GC2 from there.

Honestly I think they are stupid.....they even stated that Impulse was Stardock's largest source of income..... I guess we will see what happens.

I think valve is looking to buy something, they've said they are sitting on a ton of cash and I also know that per employee they take in more than google. I could easily see valve buying onlive or even become some kind of Netflix business. I'm sure they would love to get some recurring revenue.

Well, the good news is the only games I have on Impulse are games I won't really miss.

GalCiv 2, SupCom, SupCom: Forged Alliance and the Witcher.

Dont really understand this at all. Gamespot has basically abandoned PC gaming in their retail stores.

Same here I don't get it...

And how the F does Stardock plan to sell games now? They didn't exactly have a tour de force for retail box sales.

I wonder if our Stardock games will still be updated?

So they can make money on PC gaming again that's why.

Obviously this would be the logical conclusion. However, I still dont really trust someone to support PC gaming who has so clearly dumped on it in the retail stores.
I just wonder if they have a hidden agenda.

Would it be possible to develop some sort of Steam-like service for consoles??

And not to knock steam, something like this makes me wonder if it is still not better to have the physical disk for your game. Its not likely ever be taken over or disbanded, but it is still somewhat troubling to have to have Steam to play most of my games. It is just that the sales are such a good deal.
