Today I had ping around 600 because someone was uploading in my house (at college). Still very playable, although not nearly as responsive (obviously) as lower ping. Know of people on 56k though that are just fine. It really amazes me that the system requirements are so low for such a great looking game. Integrated graphics baby!

Has anybody actually experienced the experience gain for not playing for a couple of days. According to the review, you get an experience bonus for having a well rested character.

I'm not playing the retail game.. but in the open beta, i noticed that while your experience bar is in blue, you'll earn double experience points.. that is the best time to kill tough monsters.

I wasn't going to play it either, but $19.99 for the game was too much or too little for me to resist.

19.99?!?!?! WTF!?!?!

The graphics certainly merit a 9. I haven't played EQ2 but WoW's graphics are better than any other MMORPG I have played. So far I'd say the game is definitely worthy of a 9.5. I haven't gotten to the mid-level content yet, which is where most MMORPGs fail.

Note that game sites are historically biased AGAINST MMORPGs; at least, gamespot is.

Even if you only play the game for 20-30 hours during the free month then cancel, you're likely to get more enjoyment out of the game than any other non-MMO RPG for the same price, and even more than some of the best PC games in general.

Gamespot gave something a 9.5? Wow.

It's a great game, my first journey into MMORPGs. Beware folks, what they say about them being digital crack tis true.

mailroom just dropped off my new Dell 2005fpw, can't wait to see what this game looks like on this big widescreen display! :D

A quick flick over their website and it looked too much like FFXI. I dont have the time for an MMORPG but just because of that fact, Id not touch it with a barge pole.

If you mean looked like as in graphically, it does to a degree. It's like the PG-13 FFXI, instead of the G pr PG FFXI.

If you mean style of play, it's definitely not. I had numerous mid level characters in FFXI and I can say for sure that there is almost nothing that FFXI did as well as warcraft. Everything that you found tedious in FFXI is not particularly tedious in WoW. The main thing I miss from FFXI are the missions, conquest parties (forgot the exact name), and some of the intricate combat combinations.

Let's not even get into the fact that you don't have to get to level 30 just to be able to play solo when you feel like it. There are only a few things FFXI has that I wished WoW had. Compare that to the dozens of things that warcraft does SOOO much better.

In my opinion now is the time to try it out. You never know how the game is going to evolve over time as the script kiddies exploit things and everything that's fresh to most is overexplored. Fishing is already wading in dangerous FFXI territory. It's still fun now, but if people on the WoW have their way, it will basically turn into FFXI fishing anyway, which was not much fun, and still had LOADS of cheaters.
