Gamespot chooses WOW over HL2 as Game of the Year.

i agree with gamespot. I have not touched HL2 since i finished it. WoW has the replayability that the others do not.

Well of course, that's why you pay $15/month for the updates. 🙂

Come on... You're comparing the length of a FPS to an MMORPG. I may have spent more time on WoW, but I personally enjoyed my time with HL2 SIGNIFICANTLY more.

Yeah, I've seen several people brag about WOW's "replayability". I guess for a game that can't be finished or beaten, the replayability factor will always be there. 🙂

Right on.

WoW is fun, WoW is great, at this point I would've enjoyed enjoyed another RTS type warcraft 😀

If you take longevity into account at all, I have to choose WoW.

HL2 was more fun that WOW. For 3 days.

Yea same here.

They're totally different though. I'm glad I bought both.

I don't think it's fair that a single game should/can gather GOTY honors.

WoW I love. It's amazing. I'll play this game for months to come.

HL2 was a fantastic game. Best FPS ever. I equally enjoyed FarCry.

I've had it with Blizzard. All their games are the same now, much like Id. WarCraft III was good, but it was starting to show how it was crapping out. Then the expansion - oh christ, don't get me started. Why is there a single player map based on DoA? Why is there some bad chinese accent Panda NPC with a stick in the middle of the desert?

WoW is more of the same crap - LET THE WARCRAFT WORLD DIE. IF I SEE ONE MORE TRAILER WHERE THEY SAY "THE DRUMS OF WAR ARE BEATING AGAIN..." I"M GOING TO PUKE.

Also, if they make another Diablo game, that will simply be the nail in the coffin.

The ONE series that could actually provide some original and fun gameplay would be StarCraft, but of course they won't touch that universe except to taint it with terrible console spinoffs. When Vivendi took over Blizzard, they killed the company. Bill Roper and most of Blizzard North left, as did most of the peopel responsible for StarCraft.

That company has lost it's soul, and it's games are jokes now.

WTF are you talking about?

Blizzard has NEVER made a bad or even mediocre game before.

All blizzard games are mediocre at best, including WoW.

I love Blizzard. I wish they could have gained the rights to Bungie's Myth series, because I think they are the only other developer that could do justice to Myth I and II.

Just a question causing a bit of a tangent:

Isn't longevity and replayablity getting confused by a few people in here? WoW IMO has longevity, not replayability.

You really should look into it but Vivendi never took over Blizzard. Blizzard is still its own entity. Vivendi has given them some problems as a publisher and Vivendi is also the devil however Vivendi != Blizzard. Most of the people that left went to create two different studios which are making games and I think it may have been for the better. One team made at least primarily of exBlizzard employees created Guild Wars and the other is supposed to be making something diabloesque. Blizzard on the other hand is supposedly creating a new game in a new universe after they finish with their current projects.

I'd pick Far Cry over HL2 as well, but not over WoW (it's close though).

I never saw what was so good about Far Cry barring the graphics. I want a nonlinear FPS asap. They have made all of these engines now someone needs to truely use one of them and create a nonlinear FPS. I want an FPS that lasts at least 40 gameplay hours please and I want it not to be a huge repititive grind. Am I asking for so much!?
