STALKER COP: I liked the environment, setting and graphics. The interface felt a bit 2000-ish, but ok I could live with that.

The story however felt extremely weak. Maybe because I was new to the series? The quests quickly began to seem random and utterly unimportant as well as very very predicatable.

Seems like it could have been a great game, if the creaters had a great story to tell. Maybe they did, I just didn't stumble upon it.

Master of Orion 3..... :'(

I really tried to enjoy the game because i loved MoO2!

I bought that game in a bargain bin for .99. Yes, they went through the trouble of printing out a .99 sticker for it.

For .99 it wasn't bad. I actually enjoyed some playtime with it. To me it truly was a galactic empire simulator. Unfortunatly my games never could find a true flow after the initial expansion stage, and I would either:

a) eventually get invaded by a fleet that was way more advanced than my defenses, get pounded, and quit in disgust.

or

b) get restless, plan an invasion, have my entire fleet dusted after arrival, and quit in disgust.

Oh god yes. I HATED MoO3..... it was not a moo at all. Galactic civilizations was a closer match but nothing really matched the magic of MoO2...

I guess my advantage was that I never played the first two and didn't have any expectations.

The OP mentioned a PS3 (RPG) game or two so I figured it would be okay.

If you've played through the series multiple times, I might have to give it another go. But I had a really strong negative reaction to the games, like this poster:

Xenogears was simply 'epic'. There were so many scenes that gripped me, and even the walls of text on the second disc were a pleasure to read (for me). But I got a really bad taste in the mouth after trying the first XS. I'll give them another go someday, as I'm probably gearing up for another play-through of XG. I can't seem to let the game go, and I must have played it through about 5 or 6 times at least.

Yeah, give it another chance. I cannot guarantee you will like it, but it really grows on you as you progress. The great thing about Xenogears (to me) is that there is not 'one way' to do anything. The most powerful AWGS is completely optional, plus you can really choose what types of attacks you want to level-up. I love the flexibility you get as the game progresses. Plus, the email system was pretty awesome. There are a lot of side-quests that you could completely miss without really digging-in to the game, I liked that. The ability to customize the team, plus the uncertainty of what party members you can use at one time was fabulous. You don't get the standard RPG where you can just level-up three of the 7 guys and ignore the rest. Figuring-out leveling per character, plus how to complement them was really fun. Lastly, almost no fights were snooze-fests unless you were mining specifically for $$$. Any fights with the Gnosis could turn and kick your a$$, even leveled-up. It was a blast.

Give the music a chance, Xenosaga1 music was on-par with XG if you ask me. Esepcially toward the end...so good. :)

Really shouldn't have had that hard of a time with it. One reviewer gave it a decent score and then retracted it when he realized the AI was non-existent. 99 cents is too much in my opinion. A couple of months after it was released it was going on amazon for 10$ with a 10$ rebate...

I hear that: I actually played UT2K4 after UT3, and UT2k4 definitely plays better, a more complete game!

I definitely like UT2k4 more than UT3 but I still played like 15hrs of UT3. It's still a fun game but definitely have a different feel than the earlier games.

Not that many people were playing on the servers by the time I started and on top of that the "justification" of the game-play mechanics in single player was so ridiculous I couldn't go on.

Nevermind that you HAD to sign up for gamespy or whatever to play/retain progress. I hate tacking on extra, 3rd-party shit like that just the play the original game (Gamespy, Windows live, Relic Online, etc.); at least Steam you have 1 logon and that's that.

For the two games that stand out as games I was reallly looking forward too but was disapointed in were Civ 3 and Lords of the Realm 3.

Civ 2 was such a great follow up to Civ 1 and Civ 3's cultural borders sounded like a way for me (who builds few cities spread out) to finally be able to play more diplomacy because I wouldnt constantly have to remove cities the AI thinks should go into "my" territory. Of course cultural borders did nothing, allies just walked in a built cities where ever they pleased, modding the rules seemed a lot more work, and the combat system which worked so well in Civ 2 was abolished for something which again made you guess if your modern armor was actually going to win that fight against that warrior from the stone age.

Lords of the Realm 3 took away the relaxed pace of number 2 with the lack of real turns and not being able to micromanage fights because several could be going on at the same time. It felt like the game was just playing itself and I was just supposed to watch.

A patch fixed a ton of things in it , though.

I really wanted to like the remade AvP as, being a fan of the originals, i was waiting and hoping for it to be made for some time. Instead i found it a bit clunky and irritating!

Looks quite nice though to be fair.

AC: Brotherhood

Liked the first one, loved the 2nd one, but this 3rd one had too many bugs and issues that I couldn't overlook. While in theory it's everything good about the 2nd one plus more, it really feels like a step back technically. It seems to me to look worse, and has really bad NPC popup problems. I'll be running around and people/guards will just pop up mere feet in front of me. Never saw such a thing in the 2nd one. DaVinci's vehicle sections were pretty fun, but the rest of the game seemed fairly bland and IMO just didn't feel right any more. I might finish it some day as I'm about 1/2 way through, but I doubt it.

Every PvP based MMO after DAOC. They all never delivered in a true pvp MMO that balanced pvp/pve together.

Eve online. It just is to complicated/time resource to enjoy. I would of loved it if they allowed you to warp into battles directly. That, its actually to open for me, it terms of corps. They should just of made up corps that people can join vs having player made ones. Be a whole lot funnier.

The other thread about city simulators made me really want to like cities XL but i just couldnt because it wasent any good and simcity 4 was a hell of a lot more fun and also its failure is likely to put off anyone else from trying to make a new city simulator.

Hate EA... when you get right down to it its all their fault to begin with, otherwise we might have simcity 5 by now.

Demigod: Talk about a lot of wasted potential. Game was released about 4 months early and was hardly playable well after release, and it had so much potential.

p.s. People saying Supreme Commander 1 was a disappointment, duno wtf you are talking about, the original Supreme Commander was amazing and even better than total annihilation. Still the best RTS imo, just didnt get the credit it deserves.

GTAIV. I loved, loved, loved the world of San Andreas... and then they shrink it down for IV?

That said, apparently there's a lot of depth to IV, and I'll admit I haven't played more than maybe five hours yet.
