games wont go online

i have a cable modem and played games on line dayly untill yesterday. I went into warcraft 3 and clicked on b-net it downloaded the update and then restarted WC3 and now it says im looking for an invalid server. Then i tried playing UT2003 and saw there was also an update for it. updated and now it wont go online too. ive tried reinstalling both games and going back to the previus version and still nothing. i can play single player fine but we all know thats no fun. i installed norton 2003 pro and scanned for viruses and found one infected file which isn't unusual and handled that so obviusly it wasn't a virus so i assume it something having to do with tcp-ip caus i can play older games or ones that use ipx but i dont know how that would afect it. i realy dont want to reformat but i may have to
 
i was on a router took myself off it and its still the same. fire wall has been off for this whole ordeal. yeah i can surf the internet fine
