Games with the best Soundtracks

Hi all, as a compliment to this thread:

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2324332&enterthread=y

I'd like to ask you all which video games you enjoyed the soundtracks to the most?

So far, I've got a collection of MIDIs from:

Goldeneye 007
Perfect Dark
Streets of Rage
Super Mario World
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

and

Metroid Prime

(Please don't raise a shit, I own them all.)

It's a different feeling of nostalgia when you listen to the music from games you've spent so many hours on, it's almost like you can faintly hear the sound effects of the game on top of the instrumental. What are your guys' favorites?

Okami hands down. Perfect score for that game.

I agree, I have it tied with Final Fantasy Tactics' soundtrack. I'm sure I'll be alone on this one, but I also really enjoyed the Breath of Fire 3 soundtrack.

Xenogears : Robot rock (I like only the intro)

FF VIII : storing spells which first need to extract. oh, the horror! (again mostly the intro)

FF VII : where to start? (Everything)

Suikoden I : One of Konami's best.

Daytona : just kidding, :disgust:

Fargo's Bard's Tale remake : The score matched perfectly the funny dialogue, why didn't the game sell well? 🙁

Just came in to post FFT as I am listening to it right now.

Donkey Kong Country 2 is another one.

Original: Final Fantasy Tactics (as others have already noted), Streets of Rage 2, Lunar 2 (Sega CD version) and Soulstar

Licensed: SSX3

This first and Panzer dragoon saga second. Also Diablo 2 was a great game for a lot of reasons, but the soundtrack is what I remember most. Russell Brower is awesome but I still really want some more Matt Uelmen games.

I'm going to add

Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit (some of the best techno ever)
Sonic the Hedgehog
DOOM
Jet Force Gemini

Quake 2 is the most memorable soundtrack for me. Sonic Mayhem did an epic job with it. No idea if Q2 was on consoles.

Yep, I remember playing Q2 for the N64!
