Games that recommend 6 core CPUs

Well affordable six core CPUs haven't been out that long so I don't expect many games to recommend them. Games will be supporting quads cores for a long time to come due to low end gamers replacing their cheap dual cores with quads.

6C/12T Ryzen 1000-series and 2000-series CPUs, have been as low as ~$170, which is the price of an i5-7600K or so, a 4C/4T CPU. It's not expensive to move up to six cores, not at all.

Now it isn't, but they only been affordable for what a little over a year now, thanks to AMD?

There are several recent games that will benefit from extra cores of 8600K or 2600x but think F1 2018 is the first (released) game to recommend them unless I've missed something.
Well, pretty much any quad-core optimised Ubisoft game laden down with crappy Denuvo + VMProtect needs a hex-core to avoid being artificially crippled by an extra 20-30% junk "obfuscated" instructions stuffed in along with multiple layers of virtualization... ;)

Nah, the recommendation specifically lists a Coffee Lake i5.
Don't all of them do this always?
State the minimum CPU that is still considered half way passable as minimum, and state a middle of the road current CPU as recommended.
It's the same for the GPUs,recommended is a 1060,they don't even state if it should be a 4Gb one, that's literally half the way between 1030 and 1080.

I know a 6 or 8 core count should help if your on a decent card such as 1080 or higher but on a low end card like a 1060 or 7970 would a 6 or 8 core still make any difference.

Bf1 issues 10 threads. There is plenty use for 6c12t here in mp64 on many maps. Bf5 will probably just use more grunt.

Can you show us please? (usage in task manager is not necessarily a issued thread)

To cover themselves game devs will always list the current best CPU as the top recommendation, normally it's not about how many cores or things like that.

But both Intel Core i5 8600K and AMD Ryzen 5 2600X are each below the current best CPU.

What is this, semantics here? The idea doesn't strike you that both are the best and latest gen CPUs in their class? Your argument is splitting hairs, and both of those chips are as good as the highest tiers. Please

According to GameGPU's tests, the game doesn't really use more than 4 cores anyway.

https://gamegpu.com/racing-simulators-/-гонки/f1-2018-test-gpu-cpu

You also need a 1080 Ti to see any difference between any of the modern quad core+ CPUs at 1080p.
Well, technically, it looks like it *uses* 8 cores if they are avalilable, but doesnt load them fully, so 4 cores is still sufficient to load the gpu fully. But yea, the bottom line is FPS, not some core loading graph, and a good quad core is clearly sufficient for a 1080 Ti.

I know. Cant remember.

But another way to look at it is 6 and 8 cores do well on computerbase mp 64 testing. Its pretty radical. A 7700k doesnt cut it for consistent 60fps.

That doesn't mean anything,Fallout 4 only uses a few threads and it has crazy FPS drops in some locations.

I can vouch that BF1 MP runs better on my 8700K than it did on my 6700K. Probably one of the only games that show a true benefit (fps wise) by going from a HT quad to HT hex. Most other games are practically the same, though I can imagine more gains being seen on hex (or higher) core count chips with next generation GPUs and highly threaded game engines

Whatever suits your personal agenda. I will be happy that you use a 4 core for bf. Please suit yourself.

For others that is less lazy can go and check out computerbase results of real world bf1 mp64 testing. And we are 2 months away from bf5. Buying a 4c cpu for bf now is just straight out stupid.
