Ok well I said I was going to start this thread, so here it goes.

What games have had tons of hype, but just never made it out the door?

I can think of one right off hand... Team Fortress 2.

This is still in development by Valve, despite being demoed as long ago as E3 1999! Some previews were done in June of LAST YEAR. Where on earth is this game?? No news updates have been on Sierra's site since January of this year.

What other games have suffered similar fates?
 
How about Pool of Radiance. I first heard of it over 2 years ago. By the time it is released it will be out of date.
 
DukeNukem Returns 2 or 3 or whatever! I think they have been working on this game for 10 years now! :disgust: What a joke!
 
Coconut Monkey's epic Gravy Trader is rumoured to be shown behind closed doors at E3 this week. Been waiting for that forever. (Have had to settle for playing the "Cone of Tragedy" map for Unreal.)

Yeah, I think they have actually managed to code the game around every FPS engine that has come out since the original quake.

Every now and then a screenshot leaks out across the net, and everyone gets all excited over again. Frankly, I didn't really care too much for the first one, but oh well...
