Games minimizing

Ok at first I thought this was just a bug in HL2. Someone reported it in another forum about HL2 kept minimizing on them. I thought it was pretty odd until I kid you not it happened to me that day too. All I did was change the resolution in the game. However, the resolutions weren't the same as the other guy's. His minimized at 1024x768 while mine was fine, but if I did the next 2 resolutions higher it would minimize on me. 1280x1024 worked fine for me though everything seemed flat. I wrote it off as another HL2 bug until today, I got the same bug in another game. I hadn't changed the resolution in the game though, just my resolution on my desktop. When I brought my resolution back down and the resolution in the game below desktop resolution, everything was fine.

Anyone ever experience things like this and know a solution or even the problem?
