games keep crashing?

hi. well i have just got my computer together and running. though it works fine in windows but when i run games it crashes after 10 minuts or less. i have an a7n8x-e board, with an x800 video card, corsair xms pc3200 LL memory. with timing set to 2.5.3.3.6 right now and was set to 2.5.3.3.7 before. though the games keep crashing, they work great for a few minuts then it eather gose back to windows or the computer restarts. now why would it do that? dose it have somthing to do with the memory timming or do i need new updated drivers for the video card?

Crashes during gaming are usually the result of an overheating graphics card. Make sure your x800's fan is working properly, first of all, and that there are no blockages inside your case causing heat buildup.

When I was overclocking my system, I had gaming issues, as well. I was told it wasn't necessary to make any changes to my graphics card to match the rest of the system, but I wonder now if it would make a difference. I stopped OC'ing my rig because of it.

would moving the voltage up in the bios for the vga slot help out at all? or are you still sure its an overheating issue. and should i try running the game with everything turned down so im not pusshing the video card so hard and see if it stays running? also i dont think i have changed anything in bios to overclock the chip. but maby it cant run at exactly 400 mhz fsb? should i try turning it down? thanks for the advice so far..

If it's doing it with every game then it's probably not the drivers.

Run the two programs mentioned.

The only other things I could think of is (1) PSU not up to snuff (2) overheating. What are your temps after playing then the game crashes?

the tem is around 45C and the power suply Aspire ATX-AS500W Aluminum Power Supply. though i think i just found that there is a bios update i can get version 1011.zip that ill try tonight. suposedly will fix the problem but i see some one is still having the same problem i am even after they downloaded it so lets hope it fixes my problem. i still think it could be my momery.

BIOS update could solve it...

If you think its the memory timings, just relax on them to the slowest. It will tell you real quick if that was the problem And run the Memtest program if you think it's the memory. That too will find any errors pretty fast.

you haven't talked about your CPU, is it overclocked??. if so stop OCing, start from scratch going up slowly, I mean testing with those programs some members have already told you.
Altough personally I think it's quite possible to be an overheating problem, It's up to you discover where is the causing factor.

well i have found the problem with all of your help going threw and trying everything as well as some one said it could be overclocked. well defualt it was set at 200mhz on the fsb wich in theory isent supost to be an overclocked speed i gues sins the motherboard and chip say they are 400mhz fsb on them when i bought the stuff. but i went into bios and set the external fsb to 190 and that fixed the problem. so as of now the computer has stayed stable and stilll running. such a releif, though in this other forum i found that there is a revised version of my bios for my board. i have downloaded it but have not used it yet. i will probebly flash the bios when i feel i need to sqeez every bit of power out of this computer. thanks everyone for you help here..

though now the only thing im experiensing is the screen saver never turns on no matter what i set the delay to. 1 minut or more. just keeps the windows screen on. is there any explenations for that or do i just need to reinstall windows xp home again? thanks..

Sounds like a heat problem. Try playing with the case open and a fan blowing in. If that works, its heat. New bios might do wonders. Not sure about the SS problem though. Let us know how it goes.
