Alright, here is a list of games I quickly came up with that I've enjoyed.

Unreal Tournament/Unreal Tournament 2004
Quake 3
Diablo 1
Diablo 2 (First time through I enjoyed it, very little replay value)
Half-Life
Subspace The greatest game ever.
Warcraft 3/TFT (So close, but ultimately frustrating because of the games lack of balance)
Crusader No Remorse/Regret
Doom
Doom 2
Heretic
Hexen
Total Annihilation
Baldurs Gate 2
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (If people actually played this game, I think the stealth MP would be insanely fun)
Max Payne 1/2
Alien VS Predator 2+Exp's (Another great semi stealth game that deserves a remake to take full advantage of new tech.)
Fallout 1/2
Fallout Tactics

Of course there are other, older games such as Commander Keen, but I figure you guys aren't interested in games THAT old. Also, obviously console games have been left off the list.

I'm sure there are others, but this is what came to mind.

Yeah Subspace was a good game. I still think Star Control 2 is the greatest game ever, but I used to play Subspace so much I joined a league from 2000-2004. Thats a pretty limited list for recent games. Maybe you're just picky. I don't see anything past 2004 other than Splinter Cell Chaos theory. I also enjoyed AvP 2. IMO it was 100% better than the first which I didn't enjoy at all.

Just looking at what you HAVE enjoyed, did you try Company of Heroes? Titan Quest?

Company of Heroes I have yet to Try, Titan Quest was weak as hell.

Subspace CONSUMED my life for the better part of a decade. I began in 95 playing for SEVERAL hours a day, all through 5th grade up until at least freshman year of high school. I made WoW geeks look like amateurs. After I realized how addicted I was I took a step back and eventually quit altogether. It is still the most balanced, most intense, and most fun of any game out there IMO though. I could talk about this game for days though, so i'll stop there.

I find it funny that most of the games that you like were not made within the past 5 years.

They are nothing alike

HL1 had intensity, a sense of urgency, puzzles that weren't 'ooh look we have physics!' in addition to being challenging at points.

HL2 has... boredom. The characters are unintersting, the gameplay is repetitive even for an FPS. The story lacks drive and the atmosphere is more a play on an engine than an attempt to create a compelling setting for a story.

The game is basically beginning -> yawn -> end.

Me too.
Maleficus, I think you're just too much of an aficionado about it. I mean, it's good to have strong thoughts about something, but thinking that 'all games in the last 5 years suck' is obviously caused by some weird thing in your ego clouding your judgement. I have enjoyed some games in the last 5 years as much as I enjoyed Deus Ex, Fallout, or any other older game that was excellent.
The real problem I had was that you were going into threads in which people were simply trying to get together to play a game or something like that that does not affect YOU, and you proceeded to post a bunch of crap (with admittedly witty lines) about how you hate the game in question.
EDIT: Oh, and as a side note, I enjoyed most of the games on your list as well. :)
