Could it be any worse? I've spent the last 20 minutes fighting this piece of crap microshaft software just to try and play Arkham City.

It's horrible. Anyone who thinks otherwise should be shot.

I agree 100%, spend days trying to figure out how to get it to work with GTA 4 i was stuck in a update loop where it wouldnt stop telling me to update but when i clicked update it told me i was updated.

I don't believe so but not certain. You can back them up and I believe as long as you always use the same account name/password they will be accesable. I've never had a problem with them, but then again I've never copied the saves to a clean system. I've played a few GFWL games with offline accounts with no problems. To this day I've yet to actually create an Online account.

I can think of many other worse things *cough ubisoft cough* but it is a pretty crappy integration. It serves no purpose other than to be annoying, since I can't imagine anybody actually wanting to use the "chat" system or the other crap features on it.

YAGFWLSucksT.

Pretty sure the answer is yes, I lost my Arkham Asylum saves that way.

This is my major gripe, Barfo.

I am not going to purchase a GFWL title again.. after having a terrible time with F1 2010 and Batman:AA.

Just wait until windows 8 and they try to kill Steam. Everyone under 30 think MS is cool, not knowing how dangerous they are to every industry they shove their way into with their monopoly money.

MS could never kill Steam, they are too entrenched. Too many people have Steam product they need access to. It's just not just about future sales. Anyone who has ever bought anything from Steam has a horse in this race.

Steam has a virtual monopoly in digital game sales at this point so let's be careful with using that word. Even with Origin, GOG, Amazon and impulse, Steam still moves more product than all of them combined. Anyways, I don't believe for a second that MS is even thinking about trying to kill Steam. The MS App store is aiming for a completely different demographic. They want the average joe nongamer that they can shovel fluff to just like Apple has with iOS.

I own ~15 different games with GFWL, and I've never had a single problem with any of them. Umad?

I also have a ton of GFWL games, and never had a single issue. Maybe it's because I own a 360, and already have an account? All I do is login once, and I can play the game forever without ever knowing GFWL is even there - except when a friend comes online and the message pops up.

My biggest issue with GFWL is that people on the 360 call me a hacker when they see 2 instances of Batman AA (360 and PC)... makes me laugh.

No, he is just normal. Nearly everyone hates it. I created a thread a few months ago as well. Basically the same thing.

I should probably add, I don't think GFWL is a good piece of software. Not at all. On the other hand, I don't think it's terrible either. Rather... it's just unnecessary.

Personally it's never been more than a minor nuisance for me, when I start up a new game I just input my Windows Live username and password, set it to always remember, and then forget about it. That's it. That's my whole experience. How people manage to have major game-breaking issues with it is beyond me.

It is absolutely terrible, there is no other way to slice it. This was my rant on facebook.. that I posted recently.

Lost internet connection in the middle of a single player campaign? You cannot save the progress until you get it back.

Formatted your harddrive? Cannot backup your save files because they are encrypted.

Want to change your gamertag? It will cost you money.

Have to update the GFWL client? You have to restart a game multiple times over.

Want to setup a multiplayer match? Pray to god that GFWL servers are not busy/laggy.

You know you don't have to save to the cloud... saving locally works fine, offline also.

Back in the 90's I had to format all the time... for my last 2 PC's - formatted each once, never had to again... what are you doing that requires constant formatting? Can you not simply copy the encrypted save files or the folder they are in (haven't needed to try myself)?

Want to change your gamertag? It will cost you money.

Common business practice. From WoW to the 360.

Never had this issue, but Batman AA takes a whole 10 seconds to load up...

Want to setup a multiplayer match? Pray to god that GFWL servers are not busy/laggy.

Now this one I'll agree with, but GFWL are far from the worst offender in this area.

Just saying.

I simply boycott GFWL games.

Last time I tried to play GFWL it told me that I am not allowed to play multiplayer, because I dont live in "supported country".
