Games dont work ! DLL file not found / DDRAW and DSOUND

Stupid GAMES ! Ahhhhh !

im trying to put new games on inlaws system ( Win98 )

i installed " wheel of fortune" last night and finally got it working

next

installed "card and board games"( e-games) it did not work
then i uninstalled this game

today

Wheel of fortune DID NOT WORK ! DSOUND.DLL was not found

uninstall and reinstall several times

went to MS and dowloaded Direct X 9

DOES NOT WORK more un/reinstalls

NOW

the "Scrabble" game that has been working for 2 years does not work
i get the "DDRAW.DLL" file not found

techsupport FAQ for games suggest new Direct X download and system maintance
i plan on doing a "scandisk - defrag" tonight but will this help ?

im sorta the computer guy for the family but i need the help of the real computer guys

They named this syndrome... It's called "DLL Hell"

Yep, it sucks.... One selling feature of winXP that I like are restore-points. Unfortunately, it's not in win98.

The good news is that the ddraw.dll is part of the ms directx download (and I'll bet dsound, too). (I just had this issue a week ago)

the "scrabble" game was running for 2 years
befor i installed "wheel o fortune"

both games are rated to work w Win98

i did download Direct X 9

games still dont work "DDRAW and DSOUND" DLL not found
