The DXdiag says AGP Texture Acceleration isn't available.

Other tabs indicate no problems.

Um, what do you guys think of the DFI NF II Ultra Infinity board?

Um, what do you guys think of the DFI NF II Ultra Infinity board?

I`m using one at the moment with my 9700NP,excellent board which has lots of features including soundstorm, also designed for the overclocker, stability is excellent as well.

🙂

AGP Texture not available? You've got yourself an issue. That's usually a sign that your motherboard's drivers are not installed correctly. Got the motherboard CD around?

Unfortunately, updating the BIOS was one of the first things I tried. I saw that the description of the 1009 BIOS said something like "Improves compatibility with ATI video cards" and I thought to myself, "here's the answer to my trouble!" But I was wrong.

I`m starting to run out of ideas now,but if your BIOS has the setting have you tried bumping the AGP voltage a little?

That AGP Texture issue is a problem, though, and may very well be contributing to your freezes and lockups. I'd be concentrating on that.

I have seen other people with some problems with this motherboard. Some workarounds, but no absolute "this is the fix for all" deals.

Ok, first: Make sure you don't have the Asus Probe software running when you play games. This can cause stuttering and freezing.

Secondly, the AGP texture problem. This is a big one, and can cause you all manner of issues.

You've already installed the Hyperion 4-in-1's (4.51, right?). Reinstall the Catalyst drivers. Reinstall DirectX 9b.
See if you've got AGP texture acceleration.

DirectX 9.0b download: Download it here

Reboot after installing DirectX, of course. Check dxdiag to see if you've got AGP texture acceleration. If so, play some games.

One guy got his AGP texturing to work by changing some bios settings in the AGP section:

"Memory Frequency set to AUTO I changed it to 266

Video Memory Cache Mode was set to UC changed it to USWC

AGP Performance was disabled set it to ENABLED

AGP Fast Write Control was disabled set it to ENABLED

Graphics Aperature is still set to 128

AGP Capability still set to 4x Mode"

(these may or may not work for you; just make a note of your current settings so you can change them back if need be)

I did a reinstall of the 4in1s and the AGP texture acceleration is now there and enabled, but 3dmark still crashes.

Well, not to sound flippant, but why is that important? (3DMark crashing) That's just someone's benchmark program. Who knows what's causing that.

I have Aida32, the freeware system info tool on my pc. Whenever I try to do a complete system info readout, it crashes on the memory tests. However, I don't have any crashing problems outside of this software. See my point?

So, how about the gaming itself?

Ive had this problem before and its fixed now. I changed M/B's but it is a memory problem. What kind of memory are you running. Also, if you don't feel like upgrading memory just buy a new M/B. Also could be an IRQ conflict. What IRQ is your video card and sound card on. The DFI board is great. Take a good hard look tho at the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and the Abit NF7-S. Those 2 are very good boards that allow plenty of OCing room (in fact im running the Asus right now 🙂 ) Like i said tho plz list memory specs and the 2 IRQ's.
Good luck

I had some flakiness going on over the weekend, causing BSODs and not being able to even boot to Windows. I replaced the Asus A7V8X-X with an older Epox EP-8K3A+ I had from a previous upgrade. After a reinstall/upgrade of Windows, everything seems to work fine. Both 3dMark and games seem to be working fine. Odd thing is that this is also a VIA board, albeit a slightly older KT333 chipset than the Asus KT400.

Thanks for your help, everyone!
