Just dropping by to say that i bought Mass Effect 1+2, Civ IV and Medieval II: Total War for $20 🙂

Obviously though, they discount the cheapest game you buy...but it's good if you're bargain hunting.

They have about 500 games on sale, most of them aren't "HUGE" titles, but they have dead rising 2, mass effect, MoH and some other good ones.

By the way, this is something i found rather surprising...

These guys have been around since 1996, 7 years before steam went live. 😕

Either way, i just finished downloading all the games. All amounting to 23.5 GB, took about 4-4.5 hours, so i'm pretty happy, got all my keys, games installed and played. Now, i'm backing up all my installs to my external 1TB.

what about patches? i'm kind of curious....i want to buy rome total war but i have a choice between Gamer's Gate, GOG, or DD (it isn't on steam).

Does the actual game need activation? Or is activation done through the download process? How does it work for you?

They usually give you the most updated version of the game, if not, you can always download the patches manually.

As far as activation, you have a page that displays all your keys, how the process goes, depends on each game. For CivIV, it asked me for my key, i put it in, loading, activate, played.

I have not touched Total war yet, too busy with Mass Effect 🙂

Seems like the company was around, as a game studio, not e-tailer...:hmm:
 
They have call of pripyat for 7.98 the lowest I've seen yet.

I really REALLY want to see if Steam has Stalker for sale. If it is 5 bucks on steam tomorrow and I buy this now, I will be angry.

Yes, 3 dollars DOES mean that much.

Can't say I'm surprised, Steam is about convenience more than anything, these prices are very good but it can be nice having all your games in one place.

Can't say I'm surprised, Steam is about convenience more than anything, these prices are very good but it can be nice having all your games in one place.

Besides, it doesn't matter how far of a head start they got, they couldn't hope to do anything before broadband became widespread.

I agree I have bought from D2D and then rebought from Steam just because I would rather have it all tied to one account.

You can always back em up like i did 🙂

I got this 1TB eHDD for $30 after MiR, hook it up with eSata, got my games backed up(even the steam ones) and just seal it up as far away from anything that might damage the data.
 
still doesn't beat the convenience of not needing to tote around that hard drive or knowing (for the most part) the only DRM is Steam, which while Steam isn't flawless it certainly is a million times better than many other BS DRM schemes
