gamer tags/id with 666

I've noticed a lot more people's gamertags and online IDs with 666. Unless there's been a huge explosion of people choosing chaos or worshipping the devil, what's the deal with that?

I'm not here to turn this into a religious discussion, but more of why people are using it in their names?

Is it to seem scary or intimidating to the religious players? A tag to announce their alignment? Some of the people I hear chatting during the game, seem like they are still in their teens and doing it as rebellion, and some of them are just immature brats probably doing it to just get attention.



 
I think they're just doing it because it's a recognizable and memorable number. Picking numbers at random makes you more likely to forget your gamertag at some point.

I'm sure some of them are just bratty kids but I doubt many of them even give much thought to the whole "devil" angle. They may know it's associated with the devil but I doubt they are "Satan worshippers" or are even doing it to be rebellious.
 
I don't know. What's with the retards using 07? It's like they're trying to be like James Bond but have the mental capacity of a small legume.

It'll get worse before it gets better. Once they outgrow 666, they'll start using 69 instead, which is OH-SO-FUNNY because OMG it's a sex thing!

It might be a generational thing, with me in my 30's, so to someone younger, it might not have the same connotation and association with the Devil/evil. To them, like someone mentioned above, although they know it's associated with the devil, it's nothing to look or think twice about.

I remember in elementary school, we had to write a scary story. Well I wrote about a house people thought was haunted, but underneath the house, "...there were marijuana smoking devil worshippers..." and drew a picture of people in robes on an alter with a joint hanging out of their hoods. LOL, yeah I know, funny when I look back at it now, but my teacher spoke to me outside and had a conference with my parents. I thought it was harmless and funny, apparently she didn't. She was in her 50's.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. Especially the ones I sometimes play against late at night to the morning hours. You can hear them inhaling, sometimes coughing and sometimes they are funny as hell to listen to. And I don't know how they do it, but damn, some of them are ridiculously good gamers.
 
Just ignore them, or ask them if eternal damnation is really all its cracked up to be - they've eternally resigned their souls to the deepest depths of hell. One day they'll go to ask forgiveness but it will be too late because they've marked themselves for all time just because it was the cool thing to do on a video game that didn't matter.

The really bad part is when they have a year in their name, and you can't tell if it's the year they graduated high school or the year they were born.

suchandsuch1999 may well be a 10-year-old.
