Gamepad wont work... HELP!

Ok, I have a Microsoft Gamepad (the black one with the green mode light) and Im running WinME. Ive had the is gamepad for a while and WinME but know for no reason it doesnt work. 1st it when the problem started it would just stop responding in a game. Then I would have to minimize it then reopen it and it will work. Now It stopped working and in control panel it says its not connected and i unplugged it plugged it back up and reinstalled the software and drivers and still not connected. Im running Dx8 for the record and i havent installed any new hard or software. What could the problem be?

Here are some things to try.
1. Unplug game controler, then plug it back in.
2. Uninstall the gamepad software and it's drivers.
3. Reinstall the gamepad software and it's drivers.
5. Reinstall sound card drivers (which contain the MIDI DB Drivers)
6. If it's USB try another USB slot.....
7. Try installing it on another computers perhaps a friends.
4. Take it apart and make sure there are no wires are disconnected or messed up.(did this with mine and it worked.)
8. Take it back to where you bought it and get a new one. or RMA it.

Was the gamepad working fine before you installed Dx8?There might be a conflict between the gamepad and the Dx8 drivers.

You can get the latest sidewinder controller software here and give that a try. You can also check to see if your sound card's game port is set up correctly and that you have the latest drivers for the sound card.
