I know, but all of the faster "new" cards are over $400. But yeah, I know, any "working adult" should have no problem buying graphics cards every few months. 🙄

Having to spend $400+ for 1080p is insane to people who don't take money for granted.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. You can easily play 1080p/high. I can on both of my systems, and the 670 can actually pull 1440p/high.

😛

You gotta pay to play friend.

Always work with in your budget.

And if you cannot afford top end you buy what you can afford be happy sure you might have to play at medium instead of high but so be it.

And I don't see it as taking money for granted this is a hobby for alot of us and when you love your hobby you will invest in it.

The people that don't want to spend $400+ obviously don't have the love for this hobby like the rest of us and there is nothing wrong with that.

To each his own.

The fact that you're acting as if everyone has that kind of disposable income proves my point. I don't see the point in upgrading more than once a year other than bragging rights.

If the 7950 is getting old than my card will be crap too. Oh well, better off getting it for the console then if you don't want a new card. To be honest spending 500+ every time a new game comes out to get max everything is pretty pointless. As long as I can play on max settings with some half ass stuff turned down I'm fine.

This, pretty much. When I have that type of disposable income, I plan to upgrade to the top card every one or two years.

Back to something a bit closer to the topic, I just don't feel that this game scales as well as it should. An ideal game has reasonable settings for everyone. Someone who spends $400+ on a graphics card is not going to be playing at 1080p. I might be all wrong though. Who knows?

It's just built to tax systems heavily. Settings for everyone usually means turn things to medium or high. My card is around $400 bucks new now still and I've not been playing at anything other than 1080p. People were saying get the 7970ghz since you play at 1080 you won't need to upgrade for a couple years.
Looks like now I will need to get the 290x. They need to hurry up with the non reference models so I can sell my card for something and upgrade.

if that is what you got out of my post you clearly didn't understand what I wrote.

Nobody forces anyone to upgrade a videocard every year that is by user choice, and you do based on your budget.

I have friends that drop thousands of dollars on car parts every few months...if you actually look at other hobbies this isn't that expensive.

Yes, but only in multiplayer,

Heck it's just the multiplayer

Do these results make sense to anyone? 2x faster in MP than SP for the 780? Why are any of them better in MP than SP?

Just because someone doesn't want to spend $400+ on a GPU or other piece of hardware doesn't mean they don't love the hobby any less than someone that does spend that much. Money spent on a hobby has nothing to do with how much someone likes or does not like it.

That is the issue the other guy has with your post. And I'd have to agree with him. It doesn't really make logical sense. Those two things are not mutually inclusive.

agreed I think all of these multiplayer benchmarks need to be redone so confusing.

Screw them all. Lets do it ourselves. Get a few guys with different CPUs, lower details and go to same spot on map at same time, same server and report the numbers.

Well I guess I see it differently.

so we can agree to disagree.

Next time take 800x600.

Butthurt.

Thanks for your insightful comments. You really added to the conversation.

Seriously though, those are rather strange results. Though, the fact that different sites seem to give wildly different results is even more puzzling.

Some of us used to do that as well, then discovered we were wasting money. Just because you can buy something doesn't mean you should.

I used to do that but then discovered I didn't need 100fps in every game lol. I'm waiting for 20nm to decide personally. Might even go high end this next round.

Most interesting thing there is not the 290X being the best card for BF4, sort of expected that. But it's the 7970Ghz/280X doing as well as it is doing. It's not much slower than a 780 and that is kind of surprising.

Yeah. The 7950 also beats the 770. The AMD optimization is ridiculous here. Can you imagine how it'll look with Mantle in the mix?

I actually agree, so I should clarify: I plan to upgrade that often assuming that there's a significant performance boost over what I have. (40+%) Also, I won't buy a dual GPU or $1000 card under any circumstance other than winning the lottery.
