Benchmarks from CB and PCGH (savegame benchmarks):
Okay, the game IS dominated by Kepler, at least for now. TXAA is pretty good, best implementation so far.
Too bad this console port is actually a crappy one. AC3 is a perfect example of HOW NOT to do a PC port. The game has ugly graphics, terrible textures and DX11 features are more or less non-existent. The MSAA performance hit is similar to BF3, minus BF3's graphics. The overall graphics are laughable for a DX11 game in 2012, especially with this level of performance. It would be way more impressive if Nvidia was "dominating" GPU demanding games with good graphics (Metro 2033, Alan Wake, Crysis games, Witcher 2, Metro, Far Cry 3, etc.) instead of AC3 that looks like a 2007 PC game and runs like a dog.
This game should be running at 120+ fps on a GTX580. The graphics are simply awful. The level of detail, character models, lighting and shadow effects, texture quality and environment complexity are
shockingly simplistic for a 2012 PC game compared to the level of performance. The developer really needs to reboot this franchise on a brand new DX11 game engine.
It's unbelievable that THQ is struggling to survive after releasing Company of Heroes and Metro 2033 and has CoH 2 and Metro LL in the pipeline and yet AC keeps selling like hotcakes, but it has become a COD-style sell-out with outdated game engine and gamers aren't complaining.
Also there are serious issues with this game engine/port:
GTX680 gets just 4 fps more than GTX660 while HD7970Ghz is only 0.8 fps faster than HD6970 in PCGamesHardware, while 8 GPUs are getting nearly identical performance despite their actual performance characteristics widely different in modern games.
This game port is obviously completely broken. This is the opposite of Hitman Absolution where DX11 is just a sticker on the box ala Black Ops 2.
My guess is the developer is technically incompetent as this game's port also runs very poorly on the Wii U.
