Any members here? Opinions? From what I hear, it's a lot better than Gamesnflicks, but it could still be a lot better with the wait time on popular games. I signed up last night and was pleased to see that Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed both shipped today. I might be playing them by Friday or Saturday, which is nice. I figure this costs about as much as one game every 3 months, and it should easily save me from buying one game every 3 months.
 
I used to be a member. I loved it except for the crap turnaround time due to their one facility... but they have added more shipping locations so I was considering signing back up. Also, they have perks for being a member longer and longer... you can buy used games from them at a discount, and their prices are usually better than gamestop on used games.

Then turnaround times were a little too long for me, and when I was a member a while ago there was no "we trust you sent it back when you said you did so we'll send you your next game before we get it" feature, which didnt really help.

It was nice getting all those new games, but I often found it so difficult to part with some games that in the end, I probably didnt really save any money at all, and at the end of the day, didnt have the game to show for it. 😛
 
I plan to join this and GameTap for PC games once I work through more of the pile of unplayed games I already own.

I don't care about achievements or collecting 100% of (random-collectible-object) or replaying games to unlock "feathered hat #2", so buying 10-15 hour length games at $60 each doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

I get around that with PC games by waiting a year and buying them at $20, but renting makes sense for consoles, especially games like Lair where half the people who played it never "got" the control scheme.
 
I generally prefer owning games, but my friend tried subscriptions for both gamefly and gamesnflicks (which is quite possibly the worst name ever). Basically GNF was cheaper, but time in between games and game selection wasn't great. Gamefly was good when it actually worked - and when there were issues it fell on its face.

For example, there was one instance where he got a broken game - literally broken - in pieces. So he was worried they'd think he did it, so immediately contacted them, and after going through the customer service crap, got them to accept it. But apparently they wouldn't send out a new game until they received and confirmed the game's status. This took a week or so, and they wouldn't give him any free time or anything like that.

Also since you're in NJ like myself, I'm pretty sure he said the center is in California - and at the time there was only 1, so shipping back/forth took a week each way. After a few months waiting times started to increase (as per Netflix), and especially after that broken game incident he canceled it. Now the bum just leeches off of my old games. Ha.

They opened a distro center in PA recently... so this the east coast should be a lot happier now.
 
I'm a member and like it so far. I signed up a couple months ago in anticipation of the holiday rush of games. In the past I just bought everything, but so many games were coming out and many were one-time-through type of games so I decided to sign up. Even on the 2 at a time plan, if GF saves you from buying one game that pays for 3 months of the service by itself.

My only complaint so far has been the shipping time. It seems like it takes a day or two longer than I would expect for the game to arrive from time I receive the shipping notice. I also have Netflix and Netflix is much faster for us.

Anyway, I haven't had any problems at all with unavailable games. I even managed to get big games like BioShock in the very first batch that went out. But I use a plan that seems to be working so far. I have the two-at-a-tme plan and when a big name release is approaching I make sure I have an open slot a few days before release... even if I have to clear all the other available games out of my queue.... basically leaving the new release as the only option to fill the slot. So far I have yet to wait on any game I wanted.

Yeah, Pittsburgh. I'm anticipating two day transit time each way.
 
I have it and turnaround time is just under a week. If I ship it out on monday or tuesday I'll get the next game for the weekend unless there is a holiday in the week. This is good enough for me.

It seems that I never get the game I want most though. I sent a game back and purposely tried to have it arrive on the day Assassin's Creed came out so I could get that. They sent me an email saying they got my first game, then nothing else for that day, but the gameQ on the website said, Assassin's Creed, shipping next. I was stoked. But the next day I got an email saying a different game shipped 🙁
Just seems that too often my first game gets skipped over in the Q, although admittedly that game is usually a recent and popular release.
 
just signed up for gamenflix. I haven't been with them long enough(less than a week) to give a opinion but for $8.99(1 out),$12.99(2 out) and I think $16.99 for 3 out, the price can't be beat from what I've seen. Gamefly was to high for me.

 
Gamefly is awesome. I got both Ratchet & Clank and Mass Effect the day of release. Not only that, but the price on the used games are usually unbeatable ( other than getting lucky in FS/FT). Turnaround time could be a bit better, but I have the 2 game out at a time, so I am usually occupied with one while the other ships back.
 
Very VERY Worth it. Just rented COD4, Ratchet and Clank, Assassins Creed, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. I like it for the fact that it saves me alot of money for games i don't care to play more then once. Like COD4 they sent me a new copy and wanted 48.99 for the game. I was gonna try it out for a week or so but i couldn't get into the multiplayer so i took it back. Takes about 2-3 days for games for me.
 
they have fantastic customer service - i accidentally sent back one of my own games instead of one that i rented from them. Sent them an email, and they sent the game back to me with another return envelope at no extra cost. I did cancel my membership, but only because I ran out of games I wanted to rent. There have been more release that I am interested in since I quit, so I will probably start up again soon. I highly reccomend them.

its 10 times better than gameznflikx. for about 6 months last year i was a memeber of both. gamefly is much superior. now i'm only a gamefly member. turn around has improved becuase of the fast return feature.
