a gamecube is something I wouldn't buy for myself; but might use if I had one.. but I dunno.. I haven't kept up w/ that stuff you know

Gamecube's a decent gift. Girlfriend has one, easily play hours on end on it vs each other. I prefer the cube to other consoles as its games are actually fun.

The Gamecube is great. A lot of fun games, and the $99 bundle with Mario Kart and the extra controller is a great deal.

Heck yeah. My favorite games I have played this year were Gamecube titles. I think I spent 75 hours on "Tales of Symphonia" the last 4 months. It took forever to get thru it and was just like a great book -- kept wanting to go on!
Zelda: Windwaker -- my favorite game of all time.
Metriod Prime (and now MP2!) - get a cube just to play this game
My wife and I play Mario Kart late at night after the kids go down (but always AFTER some monkey-lovin')... She really digs the game, too. You can't go wrong with a group of people and Mario Kart. Awesome racing game.

I was going to ask for a gamecube for xmas but if it's going to be replaced in 6 months then I't would be best to hold off
also, we're not you. Only you know what you want/need. If you don't really need anything, why not let her save her money. Make it into something romantic and come out a sweet guy instead of having her buy something you obviously don't need.
