I am glad this post hasn't degenerated into a system bashing contest (yet) 🙂

Now that all the systems have dropped in price, there's no excuse in that we should all try to save up and eventually buy them all. There are great games on all of them and should all be loved by all who call themselves gamers. With really killer titles coming out on all systems this year and early next, this is a great time to be a gamer!

Do you really have to think about that choice? 🙂 The worst-selling viable gaming entertainment system at the time, or the company with pockets the size of Texas? I know I would *never* (honestly) do such a thing, but you could always get the Xbox and trade it in somewhere for a GC + accessories. But that would depend on your morals...:frown:
 
Yo tung, at these prices, get them all!!

XBox has just been hacked. PS2 has been hacked forevery. Gamecube is super fun, and Zelda and Metrod Prime are on it! You can't go wrong, according to my logic!
 
i just got an xbox couple weeks ago, got FYE to do a price difference today, YAY!!
anyway, i like xbox for the games that are out right now. do i need to mention the name Halo?
as it was on day one, halo is single biggest reason to own the xbox. if you are not a FPS fan, then oh well...
i'm also playing Jet Set Radio Future and DOA 3, bash DOA 3 all you want, but i'm still stunned by the graphics. Virtura Fighter 4 can't even compare. one thing that sucks about xbox is in immediate future. (I really can't see any games in the near future to get excited over)

the cube on the other hand has tons of cool games on the horizon, like the new mario game, new metroid, new celda. add the res evil game that just came out to the mix, and you'll be glued to the TV for most of 2002 (or maybe that's just me).
i'd get the cube but i'm eying the Q by panasonic, which is being sold for like $500. if that thing becomes cheaper, i'm so there! ^^

well it's all about your preference. i certainly don't regret getting the xbox, esp thanks to builtin stuff like ethernet and the HD, but i think i'll eventually have to get all 3 systems, esp w/ cool rpgs coming out on the PS2 side of things.. damn the whole vid game industry!!!

plus nintendo and squaresoft have an agreement together to make games for gamecube.

They also have a deal with Namco (Soul Calibur II and others!). From what I have read though the main Square games will be GBA with FF 11 & 12 still being made for PS2. Who knows yet?

Also Xbox is losing all EA online games for the future because they are forcing software developers into using a MS network. EA just set up their own million dollar network and is upset about MS network desision.

i think the GBA dropped to $59.99 as well (at least CompUSA has it advertised for that much, and with all the pricedrops i'm assuming this is a nationwide thing ---- or maybe it's been $59.99 for a while?)
 
Halo is the reason I got the Xbox when it first came out. They should make a version of Halo for Internet play instead of using Gamespy's crap. I would gladly shell out another $50 for it.
 
I guess I'll be getting a GC so I can play Resident Evil. I've been waiting for this to happen ever since the XBOX drop was announced. This is gonna be awesome.
 
xbox is the slowest selling console worldwide. also, halo is coming to pc...so, not a reason to buy an xbox. imo, gc is the one to get. rogue leader (tho not my favorite game) has better graphics than any game i've ever seen on any system(and i've seen halo). i like all of the nintendo franchises(zelda,metroid,etc.) tho. but if i couldn't have my gc, i would definitely get ps2 before xbox. no brainer, the ps2 library is HUGE.
 
Hey all

I just got an XBox the other day. This whole video game war is killing me! I never remember 3 systems trying to kill each other like these 3.......maybe because Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft are just that rough to play with. GameCube is cool, especially if you don't need DVD. I've heard loads are faster on it too. I'm happy with my XBox for now. PS2 is nice, but I don't need 1000000 games, I'll never own that many! 95% of those probably won't even interest me, so why bother? The sports games I like seem to all be on the XBox and seem to be of high quality, so why not? PS2 does have more games on sale though.

Ever get that sinking feeling that your gonna wind up with a XBox and a GameCube?

I got that right now.........

i already own a PS2. i have 11 games for it and i have at least 10 more lined up once i get more cash. the xbox has one game that i want to own and that is Jet Set Radio Future. i played halo for about 6 hours straight then got super tired of it. halo could be the reason to get an xbox but is $250 worth it for just one game and one console? no other xbox games interest me. the gamecube has better potential for me in terms of the following games: wwe wrestlemania 18, metroid prime, and star fox. thats 3 games better than what i had planned for xbox.

right now, to decided between consoles is to decided on your preference for games, not the hardware themselves. i'm collecting music based games and fighting games now, so i'm better off with the PS2 (and an import or modded PS1) for the music games and my good ol' dreamcast for those fighting games. it sure is hard to play fighting games on a xbox controller, ps2 controller, and gamecube controller.

the games i see each console being strong for:

PS2: music, RPG, adventure, sports, online, fighting, strategy, racing, wrestling
Xbox: shooting, FPS, sports, sports action, simulation, first person, racing
GC: platform, multiplayer party, puzzle, wrestling

feel free to agree or disagree.
