The thread title made me think I was back in the N64 days. Does Nintendo release anything other than rehashes of the same crap?

They do come up with new stuff yes; but their original stuff is so loved they might as well continue on it, although almost everytime they do it is evolutionary if not revolutionary increases in gameplay/style.

Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness won the great majority of video game awards for 2002.

Yep, loved it. Played it through its three sequences.

Silicon Knight's long awaited game, Too Human, is coming up for GC, here's a preview.

No

Putting a new name on a game thats pretty much done before does not make a new game. *cough* Halo *cough* (Hey, great game but if you're complaining about originality.... it's like Tribes 2 but on the console.)

Now please name a company that is more innovative than Nintendo.

hahah there was one point i was walking down the stairs and the screen went blue and gave me a bunch of error codes and beeped every time i hit a button. I was like "Oh crap I am gonna lose everything since the last save 🙁" Luckily a few seconds later it popped back into the game 😀

GTA 2? Final Fantasy X-2?

When did I ever mention Halo in my response? I was just responding to his question, majority of their hit titles are rehashs. I don't mind when its Zelda, Metroid, Mario and the game is completely different, its games that are rehashed with better graphics and thats it that I have a problem with. As far as Halo is concerned, I thought the game was ok at best. I'll admit it was great at first, but then in quickly became repetitive with the same levels over and over again, that is where it lost its value to me. Otherwise the game would have been great.

EDIT: I would love to have a gamcube to play the exclusives like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, but I am poor and can't.

Nintendo rarely does that though; the only game I can remember in current memory that was like that was Majora's Mask, which ran on the same engine as OoT, but utilized the RAM pack. Most other Big N games I can remember have always changed style.

The Resident Evil series does seem to do that though (when it was created for the PlayStation)...we'll have to see how the Nintendo exclusive RE4 looks, which from signs seems to be an evolutionary increase with no more pre-rendered backgrounds and a better control system.
