its retarded the amount of ps2's that break. as for "it can play dvds" get a dvd player you cheap bastards, a console videogame shouldnt be purchased on the decision of if it can play movies or not.

Anyways, buy the games you want. If you really don't like RPGS, and you are a Zelda whore...the answer is simple.

List the games you enjoy on the PS2.

FFX, Xenosaga, NFSU, Tkken Tag Tournament, Kingdom HEarts, Hots Shots Golf 3, Disgaea, Wild Arms 3, Super Robot Wars Alpha (lol I can't even understand it), Winning Eleven 6, GTA Series, and VF 4

those are the ones off the top of my head- i don't have time for many games anymore b/c college takes a lot of time

and ED i've heard mixed things. I played it, and didn't like it. If I were you I'd rpobably get Zelda the Wind Waker, or if that still costs too much probably um.....zelda 😉

and congrats on your games 🙂

Think about this...

PS2 would not exist if it wasn't for Nintendo.

Nintendo talked with Sony to make a Disc Playing System... then they dumped them off the project... so what did Sony do? Keep working on it and released the PS1.

But personally I'd go with the PS2... But you gotta think about the gaming on computers. Gamecube has that wacked up cartoonish ability that computers usually don't use. I guess a gamecube would be fun if you were drunk with a bunch of friends.

heh 🙂

I thought Metroid Prime was a much better game. ED did some interesting things, but felt too much like a simplified version of Resident Evil to me.

GameCube for sure. I got it w/ the Zelda collection and I am amaze that how good Zelda is, it take me a fv..ing 2month to finish just the "shadow mask". GC's games remind me of King quest/hero quest/U 7 kind of game. If ur a sport game fan or FPS game fan, GC is not for you, for everything else get a GC.

You're going to get a lot of heated opinions, but personally the PS2 is the best way to go. Sony has all but ensured backwards compatibility between generations, so no games will go to waste. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Xbox, but I always like the highest-end technology. 🙂 If you only like multiplatform games, or want stuff like Ninja Gaiden or Xbox Live (which is probably the best online implementation ever, consoles or PC) then it's worth it.

game selection (quality):

Xbox > GC > PS2

What the hell crack are you smoking. Halo and Kotor are both on PC, so the only decent game on Xbox is Ninja Gaiden. Then there is the wait period for KOTOR 2, HALO 2 and Fable.

Well, I am a big fan of FPS games, but for that, I have my wonderful pc. As for sports games, can't stand them. I am much interested in playing the Zelda series.

I'm just a few hours away from buying GC. Heres the list of games im thinking of getting, I can only pick two...

Zelda (whichever one is available)
Eternal Darkness
Burnout 2
Freedom Fighters
Metroid Prime
Robotech Battlecry

The reason behind getting a Gamecube is because I want to free my pc for all the projects I have to finish🙂. I am a heavy duty designer with tons of work, but whenever i get back home from work, i get stuck playing C&C: Generals and all the fancy games out there (currently dying for the HL2 release).

So that said, GC will only be used on the side, maybe 30min break intervals.

Help me choose 2 games out of 6.

ED is a great game. You will definitely want to get more games as soon as possible (I can list some if you need ideas) because you will most likely need a break from ED unless you enjoy playing scary games straight through non stop.

EDIT: Bleh, quoted myself instead of editing original post.

Zelda (whichever one is available)
Eternal Darkness
Burnout 2
Freedom Fighters
Metroid Prime
Robotech Battlecry

Havn't Played Burnout 2. Freedom Fighters sucks. Havn't played Robotech Battlecry yet, but I heard decent things. Zelda Wind Waker is a fun but exhausting game, since you have to sail everywhere.

You may want to look into Viewtiful Joe and Metal Gear Solid:Twin Snakes. I'll list some other games from home.

Edit #2: Out of the 2 games you listed, I'd get Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime. For a 3rd game I'd get Zelda, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how you would follow zelda in 30 minute break increments.

Haha, that was my main concern too. I'm leaning more towards Metroid Prime and Burnout 2 since its a racing game. Freedom Fighters has great reviews on gamespot. I wonder why you don't like it?

.

Zelda (whichever one is available) see if you can get a hold on the Zelda collection
Eternal Darkness - great game
Metroid Prime - great game
Resident evil
Robotech Battlecry - the most realistic Robotech game I ever game, but is hard as hell and I am disappoint that it don't have the Robotech w/ heavy armor. If ur a Robotech fan, it is a must.
Animal Cross - fun
Mario Sunshine - I will take any of the above b4 I buy Mario Sunshine.

If u happen to get burnout 2, let me know how was it.

Xbox Halo > * > Halo PC

Well, not really, but Halo PC is nothing compared to Xbox. It's a completely different game. The only advantages are better graphics and mouse/kb controls. The multiplayer is seriously messed up. The addition of banshees, flamethrower, and fuel rod gun is really annoying (they are all incredibly easy to lame with), and they messed up throwing grenades. Overall, it is a far inferior game.

Haven't played KOTOR at all, so no opinion there.

Nice choice with the Gamecube. Really it's up to the individual to buy whatever console has the most games they truely want (as well as upcoming games they really want). It's all about the games.

Gamecube has a number of great games, have fun with it!

The downside is the lack of online gaming with the 'Cube. I use my PC for online gaming anyway. There's a working 3rd party solution to online gaming with the 'cube though: warppipe.com

this is a discussion about consoles. so in the console world, Kotor and Halo are still exclusives to Xbox. additionally you probably missed one of my main points that lots of good games are available on multiple consoles and they are slightly better on Xbox almost always. finally, ive found that most Xbox exclusives show extra polish and capabilities due to the hardware's better capabilities. PS2 has a TON of crappy games (in a midst of its TEN TONS of total games) so it gets last place. but they are all pretty close. a good game is a good game on any system. notice the one > (as opposed to >> or >>> or >>>>) indicates only small superiority

Quick question, how do you save a game while playing metroid prime???? I'm use to simple save methods on the pc, but apparently its different on a GC.

thanks
