What is the best memory card to buy for the gamecube?? I saw one the other day that has 64 megs on it. Is this more than the Nintendo official ones have?

Stick w/ official Nintendo brand only. You'll only need a 251 block and possibly a 59 block one. Get it at Best Buy for $19.99 and use a $5 off gamer coupon. Or you can get it from KBToys.com right now for $15 w/ free shipping.

Personally, I NEVER get any third party acessory from any company, especially since Nintendo products have very good build quality.

Even the 251 Nintendo one is not that great, it uses compression and had a habit of corrupting saved files now and then. I would stick with the Nintendo 59.

Any memory card you see will be in megabits, not megabytes. I think the 251 is like 16Mb(2MB) and the 59 is 4Mb(.5MB). I personally use the 251 for big stuff(Madden franchises) and then a 59 to store some of the overflow and smaller files(Madden profiles).

Always best to stick to Nintendo brand, specially when it's your saved games in the balance.

Definitely avoid off-brand. I've had nothing but problems with off brand memory cards, and never had a problem with an official one.

251 block. Never had problems.

I use the old 59 block as a "backup" in case the 251 block one gets corrupt. I can't backup (and don't really care even if they corrupt) stuff like FIFA 2002, but I backed up stuff like Smash Bros data with hidden characters unlocked.

i remember some third party companies created some memory cards for the dreamcast that you could hook up to your computer to back up your files, giving you as much space to save as your hard drive could handle. They should develop one for the Gamecube.

edit: actually, they do here. Uses USB instead of crappy parallel the Dreamcast ones used.

Cool. Sounds like an excellent deal for 60 bucks CDN, but unfortunately, I see little point in paying 60 bucks more just to back up or exchange game data online. :)

yeah the one i picked up for the dreamcast was only 15 bucks (US) and that was less than the price of a regular memory card. 30 bucks US i'm not sure. Hell i don't even have a gamecube haha

Get the 251 block mem card made by Nintendo. I don't trust the off-brands.
