GAMEBOY ALTERNATIVE?

Does anyone know of an alternative for the GameBoy Advanced SP? I am in the market and want to get the latest technology in hand held gaming.

alternative? i think it's the best thing going in handhelds right now. not even sure there's much left in that market.

If you're talking about something that still has games being released for it then there really aren't any competitors in its price range. There is the Nokia Ngauge (widely regarded as a POS) and a unit yet to be released from Tapwave called the Zodiac which is basically a Palm made to play games. But both of those units are way above the price of a GBA SP at $300-$400 for either unit. If you want something that is comparable but does not have any games currently being made for it your best bet would be a Neo Geo Pocket.

Sony is reportedly going to release one in a few years....but that's next generation.

GP32 System

I really don't see the GP32 as a valid alternative handheld for these reasons:

1) It is not available in the United States in any video game store
2) All of the games and the system itself must be bought from an import game store
3) The vast majority (if not all) of the games are in Korean

Its a great handheld, no doubt about it but there are no games that are developed for the American audience.

All the emulators out there for that thing and you can't find a single game tailored to your tastes?

I miss my TurboGrafX and TurboExpress... Those were truly awesome systems, 16-bit, only had to buy one game card, and you could run it on both machines. It's too bad that nobody else opted to follow that line of thinking. 🙂

If you don't mind an older system without all the uber famous games, the T-Express would be a decent alternative, and should be cheaper than a GBA. Some of the games for it still rock and I can't recall having seen comparative games since (I'm thinking Military Madness, and games of that ilk).
