After yet another problem with hardware/data loss, I have come to ask you guys a question.
To get it to the server I want, I would need to put more money into it. But to get it to the server you guys need, we are fine were we are.
I am going to take all hardware that The GameBox owns (read as TA/SysOpt owns) and use that in my co-location space at work. I will then re-ip the machine, and re-set it up as thegamebox.org. This machine will stay pretty basic, but it will be Our own little server.
The Box will run 512 meg of the Micron PC-133 ram. It will keep all of the hard drive space it had before. And it will use the BP6 with the Celeron 366 CPU's at 366. This box will pretty much become TA/SO's server.
Using the Tyan Tiger 100 board, and other parts that I still own/haven't been re-payed for. I will create TheGameBox.Net again. I feel that this will allow me to have full ownership of the hardware that I need to own, and it will keep the donations that we raised for the TA/SO box.
I hope none of you have a problem with this, but that is why I am posting here. I want your feedback. Before I sink 400 dollars of my own money into "repairs" I wanted to see if making this box TA/SO's again, and making my own box for .net would be fine with all who helped.
We will probably end up putting a crossover cable on a special second NIC on each machine so that they have a Secure and dedicated 200Mbit connection between boxes.
Anyway. Lots of time and thought went into this shift, and I want to make sure that you guys have no problem with it.
The one minor difference would be that the dedicated Co-location machine, would only have 256kbyte/sec connection rate. But if it's the TA/SO server, that should be more then enough.
Thanks for your time.
