Game won't install

Lord Of The Rings, Fellowship Of The Ring. OK, I know it's an old game. I saw it in the bargain bin for $5, so I bought it. Anyway it won't install. I'm running XP Home, SP1. Game is rated for XP. My pc specs are far better than the recommended. I get error 1311, source file not found, G:\mainapp.cab, verify file exists and is accessible. When I open the cd, the mainapp file is there, but I can't open it. So I begin to uninstall the game and get fatal error -1603. I've looked at the info at MS, but nothing works. Anyone have any ideas?
 
Do you have a c:\? If not that could be a problem... stupid installers won't work unless you have a C:. I had a similar problem with ROTK, EA refused to help. I had to temporarily rename one of my harddrives as C:... caused a lot of problems and the game sucked
