Built a new comp, no probs with any software except this new copy of Painkiller: Gold Edition. Seems to install fine (progress meter doesn't move, but everything works fine). Patched it up to latest version, but will not boot at all, open it from several locations, thinks a sec... nothing happens, help? I'm well above system requirements. Thanks...

I'm not familiar with the "gold" edition. It's been a while since I played it too. Seems in the back of my mind there were some problems due to which disk needed to be in the optical drive to get it to start. I'm thinking it was that the disk needed changed with the version or whether you also had BOoH installed ot something, could be wrong though.

Also, there were some bad patches floating around. I got burned by one of those and had to uninstall and reinstall with the "good version".

Anyway, since my memory seems to suck ATM, go HERE to the official forums and get all the info you need.

BTW, it's a good game and worth the hassles. Get the BOoH (Battle out of h3ll) expansion pack if not already included with the "gold" edition. It's well worth it. I find it has lots of replay value too.
