I'm pretty bored with Gunshots. Where are the games that actually make it a point to make BOOOM.

Any Reqs, I don't mind retro, if I get to hear loud noises.
 
I remember when first playing Turok for N64 how amazing the explosions were in that game. You could fire a shot way off and run in the other direction and see the shockwave pass over everything. The explosions were better than the game itself.
 
Get Garry's Mod 10 on Steam and download user-created mods from garrysmod.org such as Nukes, you'll have plenty of fun to make things go boom in spectacular manners, other than that you have the games in which the player has explosives at his/her/their disposal to make things go boom as well, of course such as many first-person-shooters, either old or new.

Vouch for SupCom, the explosions are additive meaning if you put 5 nukes in one spot you get a mega explosion. Use spacebar to pan the view around, and check out the fireball afterwards.
 
World in Conflict (Artillery, anyone?)
Company of Heroes (Love the thunderous roar of a bunch of Howitzers going off)
 
SC explosions are super-fun, if only because you get to zoom out so freaking far.

If you want an RTS that has crazy-ass artillery, though, go try Warzone 2100:

It's the only game I've ever seen where you can actually slave your artillery to a counter-artillery radar tower.
 
FEAR has great particle effects .. but World in Conflict has great explosions; the best imo .. make sure you have a fast quad-core; Supreme Commander also .. maybe CoD4

I play team fortress, but I can't help feeling Un-integral to the team. And people just don't wanna talk about teamwork half the time, and it is obvious we lose because of it.
