Game that looks BETTER than DOOM3 :)

Hehe, I hope I don't get banned for saying that something can look better than Doom3. However, check this out. It's a game called "Far Cry". Amazing graphics, fellow dudes!

The graphics do look really nice, but I doubt they will be better than Doom3..I think the only reason they appear better than D3 is because you see a lot more areas and textures than we have seen of doom3.

The first screenshot looks pretty bad actually, the silver crate doesn't look very good and the brownish ground looks bad..the rest look nice though.

Ummm....have you SEEN the Doom 3 video at all? You could probably compare this with Unreal 2k3, which still looks better than this IMO, but Doom 3 blows this to the moon. Doom 3 is more realistic looking, much more atmospheric, and looks to have gameplay that will keep most of us mesmerized to our computers from the time we rush home with it, until we finish it for the 10th time. I'm sorry. It may seem like I'm overreacting, but you need to get your eyes/head checked if you even thought the two were comparable. Is this threadcrapping? If so, I apologize, but I was ecstatic about Doom 3 when i saw that vid and to say any game coming out in the next year is going to even come close is just blasphemy.....:Q

Ok, I now disagree with VBboy! I just finished downloaded the Doom III Legacy movie (high-res) and it's just awesome Far Cry is just that compared to D3 - it will never match up. Way to go iD! Setting the standard as ever...

Far Cry looks a lot like Project IGI. Those weapon models ( the jackhammer and mp-5) almost look like they were lifted straight from IGI

The only problem with that game is that I can see all of the directx8 features being used. In Doom 3, it's seamless. Doom 3 also looks like it uses more polygons.

This looks good, but I still think Doom 3 looks alot better and it will be out sooner than Far Cry (late late 2003?).
The detail to creatures and lighting effects in Doom 3 kick some serious butt. It's almost scary!

Far Cry looks amazing, seriously. Screenshots tell us one thing, moving video tells all of us another story. When looking at track records, we all cannot argue with Id software and their continuing ability to bring quality titles to us on a regular basis. Far Cry may look good, but lets see how well it moves.

IMO doom 3 doesnt look so good. I saw the video, and it shows a model in wireframe with a _LOT_ of polygons. Each triangle's side was about 1 per centimeter long in game-space, but then later on it shows several textured and lit models. The full rendered models had BLATANTLY visible polygonal edges, and even tho the lighting was nice, it didnt compensate. Old games like counter-strike have less obvious polygons than those shown textured and lit in the video.
