We are attempting to get some on-line game servers running for our local gaming group. A friend of mine has a T1 line in his basment and has agreed to let us run the servers from his house.
He has said that he doesn't use a router or any kind of firewall. The server that we are presently running on is a quad 550MHz Xeon w/3GB of memory and is running Windows 2003 server as an OS. The internal IP address of the server is 192.168.1.13.
The question that I have is. Does this state that he is using some kind of switch or hub to connect his computers together? If he is does, does that block all internet ports? I am able to connect to the server if I enter the IP address of server and plays just fine.
I have seen multiple posts where they talk about the necessary ports being forwarded. Is there anyway to forward ports without a router or firewall?
Thanks,
Mike
