So many sites review games, curious as to who you put the most trust in? Noticed lately IGN is a little biased with the pc game reviews.

I go to IGN more than any other site for some reason. It's not really for there reviews I guess it's just because I been going there for several years. I prefer user reviews over a single site review. Either way I go to gamerankings.com if I can't find user reviews and I want to look at reviews.

I think forums are much better than review sites anymore. I want a good game, not another Quake clone or some retro sequal that never lives up to the orginal. I don't care if it's FPS, RPG, RTS, etc., just good. If a game is generating a ton of forum posts, with screen shots, and discussion about game-play elements then you can guage whether it's worth trying.

It's not 100% accurate though. I was suckered by DoomIII. The forums were all lit up and it took about a week for the whole monster closet crap to come out... and still people liked it. I generally stay away from the twitch shooters since I like more refined team based multiplayer, but that's just me.

I trust opinions that concur, from major sites.

IGN is good - I do usually check out gamerankings.

If I'm really on the edge, I'll ask people here or at TGN (See sig)

I usually try to get an average from various sites, though I've always trusted Gamespot the most, and I've been visiting the site since the old www.videogames.com days.

I also buy PC Gamer, but I always get the impression high profile games get very high scores all the time. AOE III got very high scores in PCG, whereas most other mags and sites rated the game in the 80s range.

i like this forum and know - by years of experience - whose opinion and tastes run similar to mine

. . . anyone that really liked Doom3 is automatically assigned a value of "zero" in my book. ;)

for ever

:D

edit: you might want to know that some Forum Members are Paid to promote games [by AEG] on the forums . . . MS Games is notorious for this . . . and they do NOT disclose their affiliations. :p

I go to IGN to read individual reviews. I go to metacritic.com to look at the average score.

I like IGN because of its layout. I can't stand Gamespots layout.

Reader reviews at various sites. I ignore the people who hand out 10s at the drop of a hat (OMFG dis rox!!!), or consistently give extremely low scores in the 1s to 3s.
