I got a new xp system and it didnt come with a gameport. I have 2 microsoft sidewinders which I must say I really like. I was wondering the cheapest way to continue using these devices. I thought about buying either a pci game port or maybe a new sound card. I need a cheap alternative. I hope some of you guys can point me in the right direction?

Gameport's aren't 9 pins. Gameports are 15 pins. You should be able to make use
of at least one of them... unless you system doesn't have a sound card and it
doesn't have onboard sound (which would surprise, everyone seems to have
onboard sound nowadays). Probably a sound card and y-adapter would be your
best bet.

Why get a y-adapter for the sidewinders? Should be able to link up to 4 together - older ones at least

I would get yourself a soundcard thats compatible
