what are you doing here then, shouldn't you be out planting a garden/digging well/stringing up barbed wire?

Im going to continue to go about my normal activities and enjoy life. I am already prepared for any major hardships that can come. Im just trying to warn friends and family and anyone who can listen to at the very least have some extra food and water supplies stocked at home. I have a nice fruit/vegetable garden that I maintain as a hobby.

If the worst cast scenerio happens im going to be ready for it more so then the average person. If nothing happens its good for all of us and I will continue to go about enjoying my GF, friends, and gaming :).
Are you selling anything on FS forum right now? Because if so I will buy it and figure out what your address is, so that when end-times come I know juuuuust the place to get some ammo :)
PM me, I'll give it to you.

Did you guys see Bush's face... it looked grim during the financial disaster speech. Imagine how bad it really is if the government is already admitting to a major economic disasater. Guys prepare for the worst... If this bill passes we are going into hyperinflation.

Once this bill passes, I gurantee people will start hoarding gold, guns, ammo, any hard asset they can run off with. China will soon then dump their massive T-Bill reserves. Japan and South Korea will soon follow afterword to get out before the door hits them. This dumping of T-Bills will further intensify the hyperinflation. Soon after this we can expect millions of people starving, rioting in the streets, and marshall law. If you dont think this can happen dont kid yourself because look how fast this economic disaster has materialized.

So far looks like I am right about the guns, ammo, and gold. All the nay sayers are on the wrong side of this argument when the government does stuff like this http://in.reuters.com/article/.../idINN2051567320090320

The dollar has strengthened since you posted this thread. Congrats on being wrong I guess? rofl.

Strengthened against what? If you are pricing it against gold we are now higher then we were back when this was first posted. Pricing against a basket of other paper currencies does not show inflation.

Haha, no actually, measuring inflation against other currencies is precisely how you determine inflation, and the dollar has strengthened against both the pound and euro since the date you posted this thread. It's irrelevant what it does against gold if it's maintaining and even gaining strengthen against other currencies.

no one gives a shit about gold. The only ways to measure inflation are against other currencies or against a basket of good. whichever way you measure it, there is not inflation going on.

How can you show inflation with something like the price of wheat, eggs, rice, and milk if they go up drastically in every currency because of worldwide shortages? It does not matter if its priced in YEN or USD. Since the world is still using a USD reserve currency system you can not make any comparable comparisons. All currencies are heading on a downward slope of value some faster then others. We saw this temporary inflation effect 2007 and 2008 when the price of oil and foods skyrocketed around the world. The dollar went down in value against other currencies but not the price of rice and other necessities priced in all the other currencies.

I'm not sure what you don't understand here or how food prices are relevant to commodities that no one uses for currency and which no one fixes their currency to. The strength of a currency has always been relative to other currencies, and now that everything is based on floating exchange rates the U.S. gov't doesn't have to keep adjusting the peg against gold like it used to before 1971. And as reserve currency, no one wants to see the dollar deteriorate. That's the reality, has been for many decades yet people like you still can't seem to understand hyperinflation is just a pipe dream from Austrian loonies. Inflation could hit 10% annually and that's still nowhere near hyperinflation, it wouldn't even be as bad as peak inflation in the 70's and we got over that quickly by historical standards.

And even if commodity prices somehow magically continue to go up, it doesn't mean a damn thing with regards to currency inflation if the dollar is anywhere near its current strength against the Euro and Pound. Gold is irrelevant now, this has been the case for many decades. It ain't coming back.

^ There's not much of an "if", hyperinflation of the U.S. dollar is about as likely as NASA's Kepler mission finding intelligent life on Pluto. No one benefits from the hyperinflation of U.S. currency. No one. It's the will of people that determine investments, and there is no will in the world for the U.S. dollar to go down outside backward Middle Eastern terrorists who want every non-extremist Muslim dead. If other nations pursue inflationist policies too, than a relative increase in price levels in the U.S. will be even more dampened. The alternative of deflation has proven to be far worse anyway, with smart inflation so far being extremely successful.

Yes, go stock up on guns and ammo so your purchases can help the economy. I'll be laughing when the Obama administration bans guns and ammo altogether, like how the righties always claim.

Inflation? Yes, hyperinflation? Doubt it. Only thing this bill is going to do is stuff the pockets of the wealthy and confine the poor and their descendants to slavery in the form of higher taxes.
