I have hopes for this working out, but honestly I don't think Telltale was the right company for this franchise. Hopefully they prove me wrong!
I've never heard of Telltale games, but the only developer I would trust to make a proper GoT game would be CDPR. They're the only developer that I know of that has successfully managed to make a great literary to game conversion..
Especially with this type of literary series, making a game from such would be very difficult..

P.S. It's episode-based from what I hear. Half-glass empty outlook: this is going to be like DLC with no base game; they're going to be releasing it HL2 style except if it isn't a blockbuster game this will fail horribly.
Exactly. I haven't seen Telltale's offerings aside from Borderlands, but I have no idea how the two were considered to be a good mix from my view. CDPR on the other hand would have been a shoe-in to develop.
I guess we'll see!
What did Telltale do with Borderlands? I don't think they have ever created a FPS game. I have played about 7 or 8 of their games, all of which were episodic adventure games and the two Poker Nights. Sam and Max is awesome, as is Tales of Monkey Island, Wallace and Gromit, Back to the Future, and of course The Walking Dead. I just bought The Wolf Among Us, because all Telltale Adventure games have been good so far. I would expect Game of Thrones to be great, as the last game they made like it won multiple Game of The Year awards (The Walking Dead).

I went back and did some google-fu; apparently they didn't make the FIRST Borderlands (I only played borderlands 1/2 for a few minutes). They are making a new game based on borderlands, which is why I had assumed they made the first one. Seeing their list of games still doesn't convince me this was the right choice. Here is a full list of Telltale Games for those who were confused as I was.

No offense, but you are passing a lot of judgement on a developer that you haven't even played a game of theirs yet. Their games get good marks and are liked by gamers. The Walking Dead was arguably GOTY last year and did win the award at various websites.
They specialize in story telling, Game of Thrones is all about the story, it fits very nicely really.

They haven't done Borderlands yet. That's all been I think Gearbox. As for Telltales it's hit or miss. BttF games were supposedly great, but JP sucked horribly, but for all of it's simplicity the Walking dead series is GotY good.Exactly. So, you've never heard or played The Walking Dead, Sam & Max, Lego Harry Potter, Monkey Island and Penny Arcade to name a few?
Actually I've heard of all those games but I rarely hear about the studio and I read gaming news all day. That either shows they aren't in the news much or their studio doesn't advertise much. I mean I instantly remembered Gearbox made Borderlands after realizing that TellTale didn't make it and thinking for a second. On the flip side, it took me looking the game list for me to remember Sam & Max was from their studios. I totally had forgot TWD was from their studios; I thought for some reason it was another indie studio just picking up features from other interactive dialogue-based games like TellTale's offerings.
I wonder what exactly they will do with it in the GoT universe? A side story? A different retelling of the main story?
It shows your ignorance to the industry. Gaming news more than ever mentions the studios and publishers involved.
And "not in the news much?" TWD was a strong GOTY contender, they were always in the news.
