"..Regarded by most as one of the finest works to come from Square, Final Fantasy Tactics is an OST that nobody should miss out on...I give the Final Fantasy Tactics OST a 5 out of 5 ... It is the best soundtrack I own, and I don't believe that any other soundtrack known to man surpasses it yet as a whole..."

"..sweeping, broad tracks of symphonic might! The second disc is more dark, morose, and gripping. It has haunting melodies, giving the sense of danger and subtle conflict..."

"..one of the most brilliant and spectacular soundtracks ever created for a video game... the sampling on this soundtrack is some of the best the PS has ever seen. This game is one of the greatest sounding games in the world, only second to the ethical soundtrack of Chrono Cross. It's obvious that the sound programming team worked very hard to make the classical instruments sound as realistic as possible..."

".. I could go "awesome!" and "incredible!" and "second to none!" all day, and still not properly convey just how much I love this game's music! I own several original soundtrack CDs, as well as dozens of computer games with the music on disc, but they all pale in the glory of Final Fantasy Tactics..."

".. The game's plot is rife with treason and deception, as well as demonic possession and "darker dealings," so there is an abundance of dark and sinister music as well. And where there is darkness and evil, there is heroism and hope. Again, the music captures these moods, and in grand fashion. .."

The Metal Gear Solid games have AWESOME scores. I used to get all watery-eyed every time I'd beat Shadow Moses and "The Best Is Yet To Come" would start playing.

Try the Chrono Cross soundtrack. I've never played the game, but the OST is spot on amazing 😛

FF7 doesn't really hold that much emotional attachment for me. I mean, I liked it, but it didn't consume my life or evoke any strong emotions (other than maybe annoyance at glaring plot holes).

the game music that really holds emotional attachment for me would be the FF1 opening music, the Link to the Past theme, and the Breath of Fire 2 ending music.

Most stuff by Nobuo Uematsu, Chrono Trigger / Chrono Cross, and old school 8 bit megaman 2 (especially dr wily stage 1 & 2).

Mutecity on F-zero for the SNES
Almost all the tracks for Castlevania for NES
Vice City soundtracks from all the radio stations in the game, I ripped and copied them all into my iPod.

I guess when you're younger things have more profound impact on you... Being older sucks as everything in life becomes predictable and turn into 'I've-seen-it's

I realize music plays a huge role when it comes to leaving you a lasting impression...

See example:
If this music doesn't get you all nostalgic, I don't know what will...

I know it is a stupid video game but I was a teenager back then, with heightened emotions and an easily stimulated mind... The music gives me chills down the spine... as if I was involved in the plot myself first hand... death of Aeris, Tifa's past, etc...

Example 2:
Chrono Trigger

I remember sitting through the whole ending credits as the music played.. it was so mesmerizing and probably the only game I watched the credit through...

PC Games gotta get some love too:
3. Doom: Those evil midi tracks always gives me the rush to totally obliterate all zombies...

4. StarCraft: Terran's music = Best

Do you have any to share?

I love the songs from FFVII, if ya wannt here's a Linky for some good songs from some good games.

emotional... well. i fondly remember the music from:

Dragon Warrior (nes) ++ even though it wasn't particularly good
FF one (nes)
phantasy star (sms)

Ive finally checked out ocremix.org and listened to everything Castlevania.
