game load times

during the average load time of game how much difference is there between the latest and greatest wd raptor vs. wd 1tb RE4 (i have one of the latter)?

im not considering replacing any of my hard drives at all as my RE4 is perfectly fast and reliable, but i was just curious how much difference there is during the average load time of a game all other variables held constant (same pch/hdd controller, same cpu, etc., etc).

A timely post!

I just picked up a Crucial M500 960GB as a replacement for my Raptor (review linked to earlier), but the Raptor is a great drive if you don't want to go into SSD territory. It's definitely a cut above other mechanical drives for gaming.

thanks to you too🙂

that was a good review... i was very surprised that the black generally did the worst in game loading times since that's what one of my drives is. my black is a anteflood 500 GB 32 MB cache one. i was also surprised that the raptor was that much faster. and if i ever do get another hdd then it will probably be a raptor with a reliable number of platters... my parents had a 640 GB WD black a while ago and that was defective (slow) until it finally failed after 4 months or so.

anyway, my other drives are a WD 1TB RE4 (got in on sale from amazon) and a WD 320 GB 16 MB cache that i got on sale from compusa brick n mortar before they folded.
