I am guessing I would need to re-install all my games if I want to play them in Windows 7 beta, if I dual boot the beta along side Vista, correct?

I was debating just installing the beta over vista, either as a full install or as an upgrade, would an upgrade install be safe or would it mess my files up? Thanks for any help.

Never install a beta OS over the top of your working one. While windows 7 is very stable , it is still beta. If something doesn't work you can always go back to your vista install.

Though if you have the space or a spare drive, you can use a tool like Acronis to create a bootable image of your current installation on a different partition. Then you can upgrade the copy.

I just imaged the machine before and upgraded vista to the early build and have just an update install since on each weekly build.

Okay, so that means if I dual boot I will have to re-install my games. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Not neccessarily. Many games will work without the need for re-installation.

Really? Even though they aren't in the current registry? Also, is it possible to triple boot Vista, XP and the 7 beta?

MMO are exceptiosn, and some games won't work because of it but most of the time it will work just fine. And yes.

I've never tried this, but if you have a shared drive between all version of Windows, you could probably install your games there (e.g., G:\SomeGame), and as long as you specify the same install directory on each OS version, they should all get the proper registry keys and you only have one copy of the game files. Again, never tried it, just thinking out loud :)
