If you are a PC gamer and don't buy this on PC then you are letting consoles win. They put some decent effort into this one to try and make it appeal to the PC crowd but if it sells like crap then why would they bother next time around.

i also voted with my wallet this way

i still can't do FPS on a console w/ analog sticks nearly as well as w/ M+KB so it was a no brainer for me

hacks are pretty easily detected in a kill cam, if their aim snaps to your head through a wall where they can't possibly see you, then they're hacking. If they see you peek out of a window and spray into the wall near that area and you die, that's not hacking

Well one thing people complained about MW2 unfairly with cheaters is every popular game is more likely to have cheaters. Also considering how very similar BO seems to MW2, I'm sure there are cheats that would work with little to no change.

Another thing is people seemed to say that if MW2 had dedicated servers, cheaters would not be a problem. I don't know how long they played PC games because an admin isn't always on. I haven't played anything Counterstrike in a long time but from what I understand there has always been cheats in CS which obviously has dedicated servers.

That said, I'd hope that with better support from the developer, and dedicated servers, that cheating should be much less of a problem on BO than MW2. Otherwise I don't want to buy it really.

Yeah it's usually pretty obvious though a player who knows the maps well can seem like he has a wall cheat.

Yesterday I was playing MW2 on Wasteland and rounding a major corner where I figured there was going to be enemies fairly close to, so I aimed down the sight. Right then a guy comes into my sight and I popped off a few burts to get the game ending cam with a headshot. In the killcam, I can't believe some people didn't say hacks because it looked exactly like I knew the guy was coming. But really it was I have played MW2 on TDM a lot and looking at where my guys are, you get an idea where you may need to aim down the sight to be ready.

Yes but you have choice with dedicated servers. You can find good servers that have good admins online a lot. With the P2P you get pot luck... from my experience this means that one average one in five matches had a hacker (might of exagerrated a bit) but it was enough to put me off the game and I quit at level 61. I would much rather have dedicated servers... and the lag is reduced a lot also. Anyone who thinks that dedicated servers are not a big improvement doesn't know much about online gaming.

Yeah I'm totally with you. My biggest complaint with MW2 is lack of dedicated servers but I've generally been enjoying it plenty without. I'd say I find cheaters a lot less than 1 in 5, but mostly since when you get a good game going (especially when I'm host :)) and a group of people who don't cheat so you get a lot of matches in during that time that are great.

Anyway I just got back from buying Black Ops. Need to free up space to install it. So we'll see how much better the dedicated servers are.

I was going to buy it at Walmart since I had a few other things to get. They had BO for the other four platforms but didn't know anything about the PC one, which didn't make sense since I was sure it was released the same time. Target and Best Buy were just down the road but a new Gamestop was even closer so I stopped there and they had it.

edit: Minimum reqs for storage said 12 GB. So I deleted HL EP1, EP2, Portal, and other stuff (all of which had Steam saying they took 2x as much as they really did) to finally free up 14 GB. I put in the disk and space required was like 7 GB. Doh!

Wow I gota say this game is what MW2 should have been in the first place.. There's lean? There's a console? There's dedicated servers? There's not too many stupid perk combos (super commando anyone?), There's no nuke?

Yes, they really did a good job imo with bringing back what made PC great. Matchmaking would be good on console, but for PC it does not make sense. The only thing missing now is that lag free experience.

Im amazed by everybody complaining about hackers already. Am I just getting REALLY lucky in my games?

I've played almost 10 hours and have not seen a single hacker..

I played for about 2 hrs with one hack. the gun was perfectly trained on me when I was passing through a wall. An admin was on though to quickly take care of it. My clans server is up and running and we plan to have admins on around the clock.

TBH Im not feeling the lag as much as Im seeing it with other people. Some people just tend to glitch around on the screen. Then there are still the nubs who just use matchmaking, get put in a server with 250 ping and just stay there and they glitch around.

Agreed. I think people just like to bitch a bit. I'm about 8 hours in, and I think I found one (my first one?) today. I think people are just better than me. I fluctuate and can't even pass 1:1 kill/death ratio on a server after a half hour and then I'll be MVP'ing and getting like 2:1 ratio. Does seem to be alot more knifing the second day around, but maybe people are just getting used to the new game. I think it's great. Yes it lags ..... a bit. But not really noticeable all the time, nor does it make it unplayable.

it's not lag really, it's just stuttering during important moments of play, like when you're to aiming then shooting at someone. you swear you shot them, but because of the stuttering, yours shots never registered or it seems that the bullets never left your gun.

Thats my point exactly. I honestly think people just like to bitch. I get called a hacker every game or so, which gets annoying but w/e.

People just need to realize that there ARE better people out there
